Shocking Turnover of Events

In an off-season plagued by off-the-field indiscretions and arrests, the Miami Dolphins have been making news of the bad kind for months, and this latest development is no exception.

According to an Associated Press report, Miami Dolphins Offensive Coordinator, Dan Henning, 68, was arrested on Tuesday night following a months-long investigation that detectives referred to simply as 'White-Gate'.

Oh woe est moi...

This weekend the World Cup ended for most of us.  The USA played brilliantly for about 30 minutes of a 120 minute game.  England played possibly the worst defense ever played in a World Cup game - I'm still baffled by how John Terry could go from hero to zero in such a short span of time...I don't think I've ever seen anyone play that poorly, especially a team captain and veteran international player.  Although, to be fair, he does have moments like that in a Chelsea uniform too.  And don't get me started on the refs.  The entire tournament has seemed like some sort of pre-planned result by the officials.  Gotta get Argentina through, gotta get Germany through, gotta get one African team through...

Some Team-mate!

According to the Miami Herald, a team-mate of Dolphins wide receiver, Patrick Turner, called him out to the press as not showing enough work ethic and determination, at least when compared to the competition.

Now surely if this really did happen, the Trifecta is going to find out who said it, and instead of Turner being in the doghouse, the loose-lipped player will be.  Not only does this hurt Turner's reputation, it also hurts any trade value he could possibly have, which in turn hurts the Dolphins.

Henne Vs Sanchez AGAIN?

Hopefully the on-the-field drama will match or exceed the off-season hype, for it seems this Chad Henne vs Mark Sanchez duel is picking up serious steam.

The latest comes directly from the mouth of former Dolphins great and current Jets has-been, Jason Taylor, in the latest AFC East blog from Tim Graham/ESPN. Taylor rightly puts his support behind Sanchez, but it's hard to miss all the things he says about Sanchez are also traits of Chad Henne's work ethic, something Taylor may have seen the previous year had he bothered to ever be in a football uniform in the spring before.

In Times Of Recession, Go For Broke

For the last few years the Dolphins have had a weakness at wide receiver, and before that they had a weakness on the D-line, and before that they had a weakness on the O-line, and yadda yadda, I could go on forever.  It's not unusual for any (or all) NFL team(s) to have a missing link and/or be known for being weak at a particular area for more than one season at a time, often several seasons at a time.  And as long as any given team has such a reputation, its fans have blogged, commented, called-in, shouted from the rooftops, etc, that the team needed to spend a huge chunk of money or draft picks on [insert name of whoever best player in the NFL at that position is].

Caption Me! Part 2

Perhaps more disturbing than the last one...

Caption Me!

OK, here's another caption contest just for fun, but a word of warning, the image is disturbing and may cause several medical and emotional stresses on the viewer.  Continue at your own risk.

OTAs continue to answer questions about the future

It's early in the process.  Line-ups won't be formed in stone until well into training camp and beyond.  Yet the 2010 Miami Dolphins entered the OTAs and mini-camp with a lot of questions, and most of them have already been answered to some degree.

Chad Henne - Isn't it time for Dolfans to get on board?

As bad a time that Pat White has gotten from fans and the media since becoming a Miami Dolphin, it's another quarterback who has taken a non-stop bashing from both sides, despite the fact he was an under-priced eventual starter who has flashed a coolness and leadership that no other QB other than his rookie-season mentor, Chad Pennington, has shown in a Dolphins uniform for the longest time - I can't even remember back that far - even the Great One, Dan Marino, was no cucumber - he intimidated those around him, and quite often scared me as a young teenager watching from the sidelines or on TV.  Marino was excitable, flashy, a record-breaker kind of player.

Freedom, Safety, Tackling

Hey everyone.  It looks like (for the moment anyway) the Dolphins are not very interested in talking to free agent, OJ Atogwe, the lone free safety prospect on the market.

Personally, I'm glad to hear it.  Firstly, Atogwe is as over-rated as Gibril Wilson was last year and would likely cost as much financially (if not more).  Secondly, it means all the talk lately from Coach Sparano about the rise of incumbent Free Safety, Chris Clemons, the 5th round draft pick from a year ago, is probably not just blowing hot air.

Back to the Drills

  • Sorry for the lack of updates - the combination of being a hard worker and an attentive family man meant the blog had to suffer the past week.  But I've got some updates for you from practice as well as some random thoughts - let's get into it!
