D-D-D-DONE!

The Dolphins have finally come to their senses and fired Defensive Coordinator, Paul Pasqualoni.

Pasqualoni (frequently referred to a 'Pass the Baloney' on this site) will now have to fry his eggs elsewhere.  While there have been rumours that the Dolphins are interested in Romeo Crennel as a replacement, Crennel is reportedly joining the Kansas City Chiefs.  With Al Groh reportedly joining Georgia Tech, and Crennel's contract perhaps not yet signed, it's possible the Dolphins will swoop in to steal one of these guys before the end of the day.  A signing would have to be immediate to snatch one of the big names before they sign elsewhere, so stay tuned...

...in a related note, the Dolphins coaching staff are scheduled to coach the Senior Bowl, and at the moment, they only have two defensive coaches left - Todd Bowles (DBs) and Kacy Rodgers (DL) Both Bowles and Rodgers have outside chances of promotion.

  1. All I can say is YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Our D was terrible all season. Who do you think replaces him? Do we promote from within? Or go after someone like Groh? I don't like Groh as a HC but he's a good D coordinator.

  2. I'd prefer Crennel but Groh would also be a good fit. PFT throws in Mike Zimmer as a possible candidate, whose contract runs out next week, but I can't imagine Bill Parcells hiring a 4-3 guy, as the Tuna seems to insist on playing 3-4 base defense.

  3. Todd Bowles I hope not.  As far as I'm concerned he should be getting on the same bus that takes Paul out of town.  He is not part of the solution, he part of the problem.

I'm glad to see Miami identifing a problem and trying to fix it.  It may not work out well, but I won't fault them for trying.

  4. WOW! The Trifecta has been reading this blog, Tin! We've probably been the most adamant blog about ditching PP! Surprising move, yet reassuring, in that the same accountability expected of the players also extends into the coaching ranks. Good move! Next D coach will produce results, guaranteed!

  5. Tough break for Paul, but there's no excuses in this league and his battered D simply did not show up at all. No coverage by the Safeties and ILB + way to many missed tackles + no semblance of consistency= Thanks for all the hard work, but were moving on.

I'm finding it hard to believe either Groh or Zimmer will not be getting this job, also I think it's a lock we go Defense in the first round now (and if Groh is the new DC then we will be going LB at 12, period).

  6. Can,
Anyone with two eyes could see our D was terrible this year. The first half of the season our D didin't show up in the 4th qtr. In the last few games the D started the games like they weren't even interested in being on the field. You can put some blame on the players, of course. But bottom line is the DC is ultimately responsible , so he needed to go. With his release I can only hope Parcells has someone in mind and goes and gets him.

  7. Fang, 22nd in overall D, I don't think it can get worse. I agree Bowles is not the answer. He needs more time to learn from a real DC. He may be good in the future, but right now he's not the answer.
