I think Henne will start. I think Thigpen will be 2nd. I don't know what will happen to Pat White. Either he will be seen as a waste and let go, or they will figure out a better way to use him. In case the Dolphins need to pick up another QB in 2010, here is my Top 10 list.
I didn't put draft projections on this list because QB is a very subjective position. I would never have put Mark Sanchez as top 5 pick, or Pat White on the first day in 2009, for example. I also don't understand how Todd Reesing (see below) could be listed as 32nd best QB in 2010's draft. So while I'm sure some team will draft Colt McCoy in the first 40 picks, I wouldn't grade him higher than mid round 3. But like I said, it's all subjective.
FYI - if you'd like to be able to see all the top ten lists, just type 'top 10' into the search box, or use the navigation option at the right hand side to browse thru the posts in chronological order.
No QBs this year.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Knight!
ReplyDelete(sub-Ronnie means not as fast, as quick or as powerful as the Ronnie we all know and love at Week 10 of 2009)
He has a fracture in his foot, it just has to heal. It's not like he has to rehab a knee or something.
ReplyDeleteIf we ended up with this draft, kind of a monkey wrench thrown into the common theme of what most Phin fans think should be our draft, would you be unhappy?
ReplyDelete1. #12 RB/WR/KR/PR C.J. Spiller 5-10 195, Clemson
2. #43 DE Greg Hardy 6-5 260, Mississippi
3. #73 FS Nate Allen 6-1 205, USF (like that Tin?)
4. #? ILB Micah Johnson 6-2 260, Kentucky
6a. (KC - Ndukwe/Alleman trade) #?
6b. (WAS - 2008 JT trade) #?
6c. #?
7a. (KC - 2008 draft day trade) #?
7b. #?
if we did draft Spiller, would we trade Ted Ginn?
That'd fill some needs,I like Micah Johnson,(IFF I can't have McCLAIN @12 or Spikes in the late teens)!!
ReplyDeleteIt'd be a tough choice b/t Spiller,and Berry,IFF their there and the ILBs aren't!!
Bottom line is, yes we have needs and yes we have a potential traffic jam at
ReplyDeleteother positions, but if you have a chance to get Spiller at #12, then it
allows you to think of trading Brown/Ginn/etc. Obviously if McClain and
Spiller are both available, I would choose McClain, but if he's not, then
you could think of the trade above or trade down with Seattle or San Fran or
even lower.
I'd bet we could even get Philadelphia or San Diego to trade up for him. We
could then still grab Spikes or the Fat Guy ("Spikes and the Fat Guy", this
Fall on ABC). Bottom line is we can't go into the draft with only one
gameplan and no flexibility. Just like on the field, you have to make
adjustments as the game goes on.
Yes i would be upset. I can understand Spiller at #1, but not a DE at #2. DE is not a weakness ILB is, our LBs were so bad who knows if Wilson can cover the deep middle of the field, when he's making the tackles for the LBs and covering for their faults. besides laying the blame on Wilson for everything isn't really that fair is it. I thought we had 2 safeties on the field didn't we ? Maybe a switch of the safety positions is all that's needed and Passy wouldn't do that. Who knows ?
ReplyDeleteIf it were me making the calls on the draft I would go right down the middle of the defense ILBs, Safeties, and NT not necessarily in that order. One thing for sure we still need more speed on the defense, and usually more speed comes from Youth. I sometimes wonder if the need to win comes at the expence of rebuilding for the future ?
Yes I would trade Ginn I think we could get a 6th or 7th rounder for him maybe. My feelings are most teams may feel we will release him. So they won't make a trade for him they don't want his cap space on their roster any more than we do. If Miami lets him go they can sign him at a discount, and he would be gobbled up like a turkey on Thankgiving day.
The question is do you believe Ireland when he says he likes Ginn ? Or is that no more than a smoke screen trying to up his value in a trade ?
I'm pretty sure the trifecta will build flexibility into the draft stategy, they have done that each year.
ReplyDeleteWhat's important for all of us fans or at least for me is, that I don't fall in love with any one player and think as I did last year with PW that he was the MAN. When he was little more than a high school QB. I really try not to do that with any player and that includes RB, CH, JL, JT, or anyone on the roster. I have my favorites like everyone does, but if our players are not good enough no matter their name then I'm all for letting them go. Even though I thought losing Roth was stupid. The one thing we did know about that situation was, we knew nothing about the situation.
One thing for sure if we keep the current talent on the team we will most likely have the same record next year. So I can't say we have enough talent to compete at the top level we have proved that we do not. As many will say well we had injuries and the schedule was tougher, BUNK. The fact remains the talent on this team is not good enough, it is getting better and I'm sure it will get better still, but in order to do that some these favorites are going to gone, mine included.
So it's a good idea to purchase a Miami Dolphin shirt in place of that jersey with a players name on it, because most likely that player could be in Dallas next year.
@ Knight: I like Allen and Johnson in rounds 3/4 but I don't like Spiller at #12 and Hardy (or any DE) at #43.
ReplyDeleteGreg Hardy would be converted to OLB. I forgot to type DE/OLB. He's built like DeMarcus Ware and runs a sub 4.6 40. He's had some injuries and that's why he might fall to the 2nd round. He has top 10 ability.
ReplyDeleteIf Berry is there when we pick I think he's a no-brainer. Maybe even over McClain.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great news that we hired Mike Nolan. Next challenge--find better players. IF we keep the 12th pick & IF McClain is still available I think he makes a lot of sense. After that I think we have to go WR.
ReplyDeleteBTW--Everyday is a living hell here in NYC. They're call Rex Ryan the "Rexinator" now..........Ughhhhhhhhhh.........I still haven't recovered from the SD game. Don't let me down on Sunday Peyton!!!
I totally agree with your assessment of the draft & I for one would welcome a new tv show provided it is well written & stars two good actors. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSpiller is a stud & a bonafide playmaker. Anyone who says that we don't need a RB is not looking at the totality of what Spiller can do. Not only is he also an excellent return man but he's a dangerous weapon as a receiver as well. My preference is McClain as well BUT I'd still be pleased if we wound up with Spiller.
IMO--This is a very strong draft (lots of very good Juniors coming out) so the more picks we have, the better. I have a feeling that Parcells might want to trade out of the 12th spot but we'll see how it plays out on Draft Day.
Ah Knight, now that draft order makes sense. I could go for that !!! Who knows how it will shake out ?
ReplyDeleteI wish we were talking about the playoffs instead of the draft. But this seems to be what we do every year doesn't it ?
Well we had at least one playoff week last year. Let's hope we can build a team that is a regular participant in the playoffs for years to come. :)
