The Miami Dolphins will open up Landshark Stadium for the first time for a Monday Night clash with the Indianapolis Colts. It's been a while since the Dolphins played on a Monday Night - you'd have to look back to Christmas of 2006 - so this game is more about the Dolphins proving their relevance than the Stadium showing off its new found glory thanks to celebrity owners and a determination to make attending a game in person worth the high price.
While the media will focus on the renaming of the stadium, from Dolphins to Landshark, and the music blaring through the PA, the players know all that matters is the game. And if they want to keep playing it, they need to win. For the Dolphins to have a successful season, they have to hold home-field.
And dress it up however you like, with yellow and blue banners representing the new sponsor, to remixed fight songs and half-time salsa dancing, we'll still see that horrid baseball infield threatening field goal kickers and offensive lineman's footing, not to mention just looking terrible. Monday's game is the only one in 2009 bearing the infield, but it's also Miami's first Monday Night Football since 2006.
The good news...you can stick your landshark beer bottle in the clay and it won't tip over.

Hey Tin,
ReplyDeleteWill you be streaming the game? I tried to get on last week, but I couldn't access the comments and the game, so I had to just watch and not leave comments. Looking forward to a prime time match-up, but not to waking up at 1:30am. I'm taking a week off this week though, so no work in the morning!
Btw, did you see the Ch. League game? A win is a win, but it wasn't a great one for the spectator. Did you get the derby game yesterday. I won't comment on it in case you haven't watched it yet!
I'd like to drive that shark (if it had a motor and wheels) right into Landshark stadium destroying the dirt infield and any stage that might support any of our new owners from performing or speaking. is that wrong? :-E
ReplyDeleteDer der. Der der. Der der der der der der (sung to the Jaws theme tune!)
ReplyDeleteKnight:
ReplyDeleteIt DOES have wheels.
Okay excellent! Does it have a motor?
ReplyDeleteHere's to swimmin with bowlegged women. :-D
ReplyDeleteI always feel bad when I read stuff like this. Especially young players just getting started.
ReplyDeleteAdam Schefter, of ESPN, reports Atlanta Falcons DL Peria Jerry is done for the season after suffering a knee injury in Week 2.
Not able to determine. But I do so want to see you do that, I have found you an alternative. 8-)
ReplyDeleteI will be streaming the game and live chatting as well, though keep in mind
ReplyDeletethe last time I did a weekday game my 3 year old had me in a headlock for
most of the game.
I watched the Tottenham match which was fantastic, but the Besiktas match
was a real sleeper. The only thing that kept me up was the crowd noise
which was amazing. Actually Tottenham was pretty loud too but I bet there
were a good 15 to 20k more people at Besiktas.
I haven't seen the derby yet, who was the opponent?
Oh, actually I meant to ask you, there was a team during the UCL highlights
show that had the most amazing uniforms because they were near identical to
one I just designed myself a few weeks ago. I can't remember the name of
the team but it started with an 'M' and the colors were black, orange and
teal. Any guesses?
Ok, I'll say it...if he had to go down for the season, couldn't he have gone
ReplyDeletedown prior to week 1?
That thing won't start.... :-D
ReplyDeleteHow can you be so sure? And besides, where I'm from, a guy isn't a guy unless he drives a truck. They don't call em pick ups for nothing! lol
ReplyDeleteI hears Peezy and JT have been watching some old Lorenzo Brommel tape ...... anyone think lightning can strike twice?!?!? 8-)
ReplyDelete(couldn't find any youtube footage of the original jaw-breaker to get us in the mood, but maybe tin can rig his sandwich-shooter up to project previously unseen video onto his site?)
Um, did you see the sculpture on the front of the house? I don't think a 'manly man' owns this vehicle....
ReplyDeleteWhy are they watching Lorenzo Brommel tape?
ReplyDeleteNot that there's anything wrong with that. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's just sadistic!
ReplyDeleteIn any event, as I recall, Manning came out of the game for about 2 minutes
and only missed one play.....
Oh is Brommel the one that gave Manning a bloody chin?
ReplyDeletebroke his jaw
ReplyDeleteTinshaker:
ReplyDeleteYou are now engaging in clothing design? And yes, uniforms are clothing, so it counts. That is not the manliest of hobbies either!
Not that there's anything wrong with that! ;)
I don't remember him breaking his jaw. It must not have been too bad because he didn't miss any time.
ReplyDeleteLet me guess, it has to be an American made truck as well?
ReplyDeleteherdfan, I contemplated doing a tin's fins dolphins jersey, so I worked on
ReplyDeleteit for an hour or so, hardly a career change...
it was in 2001...I was on a space odyssey at the time and don't remember
ReplyDeleteANYTHING!
That truck looks like something an Aussie would park in front of the house.
ReplyDeleteSounds fun. LOL
ReplyDeleteIf he broke Manning's jaw, wouldn't he have missed some time? I thought I remembered a bloody chin, but not a broken jaw.
http://www.seattlepi.com/football/46467_nfln13.shtml
ReplyDelete"Manning suffered a hairline fracture of his jaw in the fourth quarter of a
27-24 loss to Miami when defensive end Lorenzo Bromell hit him underneath
the chin strap after a pass. Bromell was penalized.
Manning left the game for one play, replaced by Mark Rypien, then returned
despite his bloodied and swollen jaw."
Chuckle - those headlocks get you every time and I guess he's getting bigger every game!
ReplyDeleteThe derby game was even better. It was yesterday - our Manchester rival Manchester City, played at Old Trafford. I won't be a spoiler, but if you can find it, don't miss it and wait till the wee fella has gone to bed.
Was it Marseille? I found this shirt in a quick search. Bit too orange for my taste!

He broke Peyton's jaw!
ReplyDeletehere it is

I designed dolphins jersey with orange teal and white accents on a black
jersey, looks great.
I sense a link with future competition prize-giving?!?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of doing a kind of rewards program thing....haven't had time
ReplyDeleteto work on it though.
It's a man's game! In those days, Indy were still in the East and the interview he did after was quite something. He kept trying to enunciate words and his jaw kept going off in different directions! Sorry, but I found it hilarious - I respect what Manning has acheived, but he's an arrogant so and so. He should take a leaf from Chad's book.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about football, but I know we can't win with our offensive line playing like they did last week. Like or not, they are the key to this game, if the defense played like they did last week, and a better running game we will win.
