In the first official not necessarily truthful/accurate/forthcoming injury reports, the following is stated:
Dolphins
Full participation: CB Vontae Davis (knee)
Falcons
Did not participate: S William Moore (hamstring)
Limited participation: DE John Abraham (knee)
Full participation: DE Chauncey Davis (foot), LB Tony Gilbert (hamstring), C Todd McClure (calf), RB Jerious Norwood (knee)

Is that what a Falcon looks like? I thought they were tougher looking than that. LOL
ReplyDelete...how sweet it would be if Abraham isn't ready.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a shame. LOL
ReplyDeleteOne thing about Abraham, he hasn't been the kind of guy to play through injuries during his career.
I want every team to play with a full roster against us. That shows how good we really are and no one can say well the other team had injuries after we beat them.
ReplyDeleteOff topic because I'm in full football mode with my fantasy league and opening day on the horizon. I missed a lot during Labor Day weekend and had to get caught up.
ReplyDeleteSome thoughts about Pat White and what the plan is for him. I really think they want him to learn the offense as a QB and be able to play QB. But he will also be baby fed other roles in specialty packages as the season goes on. He was drafted for his athleticism and because he can throw. The long term plan has to be to get him bigger and stronger. He will spend the offseason conditioning his legs with lots of squats because Parcells believes a QB throws with his legs, not his arm and he's right. White throws on the run a lot. He throws with his arm a lot. That is why his accuracy is inconsistent.
White has to bulk up. He can't hold up at 6-0 190. He's going to have to get over 200. He is a project that might be able to help us right away. Weird but true.
Fang,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. And when we beat the Pats this year it will be with Brady at the helm not a backup.

Knight,
ReplyDeleteRonnie was outstanding at running the Wildcat last year however the dimension however I would be very surprised if we don't see Pat White on a few occasions in Atlanta. What White ability to either throw the ball for huge gains or at least make defenses confused that he might throw the ball .
I think from a football perspective, at least right now, he's going to have the same role as Michael Vick will have (BTW--This is not to say that White is as dynamic as Vick). They're both QB's first & foremost but considering that neither is the starter, both the Eagles & the Dolphins are going to take advantage of the fact that they have great athletes that are fast, elusive, & can make plays. What I want to see is how explosive Pat White is if he decides to take it himself & run the ball. His size doesn't really concern since Vick's size didn't seem to bother him when he came into the NFL. IMO--It's going to come down to White's speed & his ability to make accurate throws when he has to.
*please disregard..."however the dimension..."

ReplyDeleteWas Vick really that much bigger than White coming out of college? Clearly Reggie Bush has better size than Darren Sproles but I'd take Sproles over Bush in a heartbeat. If there is a special player that can't be stopped then sometimes size is just overrated. I'll take pure speed, quickness, & elusiveness.
Yeah but Vick has like 15 lbs on White
ReplyDeleteWHP, get back to us when you can type. LOL
ReplyDeleteVick appears bigger to me than White and he's much faster. Vick is 6-0 and about 210-212. White has excellent open field vision but he's not the athlete Vick is and he doesn't have Vick's arm.
We'll see what White becomes.
Tins,
ReplyDeleteDid Vick have 15 pounds on White when he came out of college? I'm not being a wise-ass, I just don't remember Michael being 205 as a rookie. However, Vick definitely looks considerable bigger than I remember. But the real question is how many books without pop-outs did he actually read in two years??? LOL! My guess--less than one.
WHP, at your request I looked it up. Vick weighed in at 210lbs at both the
ReplyDeletecombine and his pro day. He ran a 4.33 forty.
WOW! That's pretty f#cking impressive! A) That he Vick was that big & B) That you actually looked it up! LOL! The defense rests...
ReplyDeleteKnight,
ReplyDeleteI do apologize for that...Long day. I totally agree with you since Tins has just set me straight on how big Vick was when he came into the NFL. With that said, I still think their roles will be similar this season unless McNabb gets hurt...Now that would be interesting!!!
BTW--I know everyone keeps saying that we have the hardest schedule in the NFL but speaking of the Eagles, the NFC East has to be the toughest division in football. I'd rather play the Bills &/or the Jets twice over any team in that division. I think it's going to be the Giants or the Eagles representing the NFC.
With respect to us, I think we'll leave Atlanta 1-0 but our defense has to understand right away that one guy can't bring this beast Turner down. Man, he's some kind of player!
WHP - Vick may have a similar role, but is it going to be called the Wilddog in Philly?
ReplyDeleteJust busting on you, WHP.
ReplyDeleteTurner is a beast. I'm sure tackling is a big emphasis this week in practice. Turner, Gonzo, White and Jenkins can all break tackles. One way to deal with that is to have multiple guys swarm the football every play. Sparano wants to be a physical team so the team should go play a physical game. Simple right? LOL
Speaking of other teams in the division, I was wondering what you guys think about the Cheats/Bills game. Personally, I think the Bills are gonna stomp on the cheats (well maybe not stomp but still squeeze out a victory). The Bills offense has been pretty terrible in the pre-season but I think they'll rebound (in a big way), knocking out espn's dual Jesus' (Belichick and Brady). Besides, the Cheats d is very, very suspect right now.
ReplyDeleteNo way, I predict a blow-out. NE 38 Buffalo 17
