Thursday Update - The Saints Are Coming

Updates throughout the day, so check back often:
• The TV listings have changed since yesterday. The announcers will be Dick Stockton and Charles Davis. Here are the locations that will be airing the Dolphins game on Sunday evening on Fox: Eastern Maine and Western New Brunswick, Canada; Buffalo, New York; Patriots Country, i.e. Eastern Mass and Southern New Hampshire/Vermont; the entire state of Florida EXCEPT for Tallahassee area; 90% of Louisiana; 95% of Mississippi; and Southwest Alabama (Mobile area)I will update with any changes.
• Matt Roth is injured just one day after returning to practice. According to reports, Roth is present but not practicing and has his ankle taped up and is limping.
• When asked who would be returning kickoffs, Coach Sparano replied, "Not telling you. You'll just have to see at the game."
• On the Saints being undefeated, Channing Crowder said, "They're undefeated, they're probably smelling themselves, rubbing each other's balls, all that shit..."
• Saints LB Scott Fujita and CB Malcolm Jenkins looking less likely to play on Sunday. Both did not participate in today's practice. Jenkins has been out for a while, but the big drop-off is in not having Fujita on the field.
• Mike Berardino thinks you're all lazy and stupid despite his lazy reports and stupid attempts at naming everything. BTW, Mike, the Porter-Taylor-Wake alignment (Tri-rail?) that you write about, doesn't exist. They have not all been on the field together at the same time, and Cam Wake barely got any snaps in the games when Porter was active.
• Omar Kelly thinks the O-line should be called the Wildebeests. Besides this being ill-timed the name itself makes little sense. For one, it doesn't sound very intimidating. Wildebeests are like nature's free sample tray at Costco. They're begging to be eaten and ARE eaten by just about every predator in Africa. Crocodiles....Lions....Hyenas....Vultures....Humans....Tse Tse flies...etc. But back to the name itself. I get the 'beest' part because it sounds like, and actually translates to 'BEAST' which is a football cliche already. But 'wilde' is pronounced 'will-duh', which doesn't even match up with the WILD-cat. I have many better suggestions but I have a sudden desire to eat a Wildebeest so I have to get going....

1. Tin, Greetings!

Do you have sunday ticket? I'm about 2500 miles away from my sat tv and forced to watch Denver, Dallas and whatever the locals decide to show. Sucks! Won't be home 'til the Bucs game.

ReplyDelete
2. No, I don't have Sunday Ticket...was going to get it but then I had plans to
move this month and it didn't seem like good value at the time. As it is
now, my job is keeping me in Sacto a couple months longer than I planned to
be here.
I'll have the feed up here on the blog.

ReplyDelete
3. Thanks in advance, Tin, I was going to do something crazy like spend Sunday afternoon with my wife!

Tin, where are you moving to?

Roth hurt again aye? Hmmm...

ReplyDelete
5. Careful, she might hypnotize you!

ReplyDelete
6. Yep, we should've traded him when we had the chance.
I was planning on going back to Portland (been planning to for 3 years), but
at this point I'll go wherever there's a job waiting for me.

Portland, Oregon? You like the Pacific Northwest I guess? You're not re-locating with your current job?

ReplyDelete
8. My current job ends in December.

ReplyDelete
9. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 9:53 AM

So does that suck or is it a good thing? Meaning you want to make a change anyway.

ReplyDelete
10. how does your job end, whats wrong are they running out of cold cuts in Cali.

ReplyDelete
11. Roth had one day of contact against a good OL that has been going at it full throttle for about two months, he wasn't going to come away from that unscathed! He was projected to get his first action against the Jets in 10 days so there is no cause for alarm, yet!

ReplyDelete
12. Well we were planning on moving before I got the job, also after I got the
job. Then the economy exploded. At this point since there isn't a job
waiting for me in Sacramento, I might as well be unemployed elsewhere.

ReplyDelete
13. canam, there was cause for alarm on Roth months ago when he couldn't make it
on the practice fields in pre-season.

ReplyDelete
14. tin,

i thought the blog was your job. seriously, sorry to hear about that, never good losing a job. best of luck to you

15. I'm not being laid off or anything like that....oh I just jinxed
myself...doh!
I work in construction management folks. At some point, the thing you're
building...gets built! lol.

ReplyDelete
16. not if it is a goverment project, then it just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and then at some point, it goes on and on and on and on and on till they get to phase two which goes on and on.......

ReplyDelete
17. That's what the government agency we're building for is trying to do, they
keep changing the procedures and adding more bureaucracy and paperwork to
the project trying to delay the completion.

ReplyDelete
18. I used to audit construction projects for a company, chemicals and plastics, and our construction projects would always reach 95% completion and could never seem to get past that point.

Now, ironically, I'm in a different chemicals and plastics industry!

ReplyDelete
19. You're also in a different 'construction' industry!

ReplyDelete
20. and one in which the construction is much much more appreciated to men. one were can see the delicate beauty of such wonderful construction and can just spend hours upon hours admiring such constructions not only with our eyes but our hands too. hell some of us have been known to admire the construction so much the we adorn it with kisses

ReplyDelete
21. FFR, not to step on your slightly disturbing point but I think your average
man actually is more into heavy construction than breast implants which is
more of an acquired taste. We learn to love the boobs, but we're born
loving trucks and cranes and building stuff. Well, most of us are.

ReplyDelete
22. ffr:

I think that is the most words you have ever used in one post!

ReplyDelete
23. Boobs...what, huh?

I'm in!

Did somebody say something?

ReplyDelete
24. Knew I wasn't the only one in construction and out of work......

Really disappointed in Roth limping around, but I'm probably putting too much stock in his return having an immediate impact. Sparono tends to be conservative with player rotation, so he probably had no intention of activating him for St.'s game. Watching some of the Saint's Jets game and some of those throws by Brees could have easily been picks. Maybe we make Brees look like Trent Edwards?

ReplyDelete
25. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 11:32 AM

I ask Tin about his job and moving and this blog becomes about tits. LOL

So Tin, do you work for a firm and are there not new projects on the horizon? Or are you one of those guys who holds up a cardboard sign by the side of the road that says "Need new construction project"?

27. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 11:37 AM

That's probably because ya'll boozed it up before the job was done. ;)

ReplyDelete
28. hey it is boobies, i can talk about boobies all day long LOL.

and tin, i respectfully have to disagree with you, we are born searching for the boobie, ok yeah at first it is for the nourishment needed to sustain life, but after that it is for the nourishment needed to make life sustainable. And I do have to say, if my point is slightly disturbing, yours is screaming for a shrink if you would rather play with trucks, cranes and building blocks then bbbooooooobbbbiiiiiieeeessssss LOL

ReplyDelete
29. "Watching some of the Saint's Jets game and some of those throws by Brees
could have easily been picks. Maybe we make Brees look like Trent Edwards?"
Considering Edwards is injured and not playing, that would be to our
advantage. Like I said in the article, Brees does take risks and throws to
receivers who are well covered because he's confident they will win their
individual matchups. A couple of those throws would be deflections with
Sean Smith's reach.

ReplyDelete
30. I was reviewing the schedule that Tin was so kind enough to post on his blog and noticed that our schedule doesn't appear to be as scarey as it once did at the beginning of the year.

I think we can make a pretty good run and this game coming up can really set the tone going forward.

ReplyDelete
31. The first one. We have bidding on a lot of jobs lately and not even coming
close. The kind of jobs we tend to be low bidder on are the kind that don't
get planned when the state is $40 billion in debt.

ReplyDelete
32. The schedule is even less scary considering we have zero players on the
injury report, and everyone else is starting to break down early.

ReplyDelete
33. Giggling like a school girl waiting for this game this weekend.

ReplyDelete
34. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 12:06 PM

With the exception of a few players, the Parcells' offseason conditioning program seems to be paying off as far as this team staying healthy. I can't remember a time when the Dolphins were so healthy back to back years.

ReplyDelete
35. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 12:06 PM

Are you really?

ReplyDelete
36. careful, he's got a gunn

ReplyDelete
37. the schedule looks the same to me as it did at the beginning of the season. any thing can happen on any given week, that is why like at the beginning of the season and now, it is only one game that i am worried about and that is our next one

ReplyDelete
38. Yup!

I'm jacked up!

Let's go Fins

ReplyDelete
39. Am I the only one to see the smoke screen here? Roth has his ankle taped up and is limping and Sparano won't say who's on return duty. He no more has a limp than he had a groin strain - he's secretly been practising returning kicks to the house in that ball cap ever since pre-season and just like everyone remembers the Pats game for it being the turning point of the season last year, they'll recall the game that the elusive Matt "night-train" Roth was unleashed on the NFL. Anything less than 2 returns for a TD on Sunday and he's a bust!
Tin, did you see the game?
Also, do you put your clocks back in the US this weekend? We do here, but I seem to remember we were a weekend or two ahead of the US last year?

ReplyDelete
40. No I haven't seen the game yet. It hasn't been uploaded yet!
Our Daylight savings ends on November 1st. It's a good day because the bars
stay open an extra hour on Halloween!

ReplyDelete
41. well, you brits are ahead of us on daylights savings but we still have you guys beat on dental care LOL

ReplyDelete
42. no you don't. They have free healthcare.

ReplyDelete
43. FFR, you ever watched Family Guy when the Brit purchased the Drunken Clam? He had a messed up grill as if to stereotype all Brits have bad teeth...too funny

ReplyDelete
44. ffr - quite funny - I had a reminder to come in to the dentists for a check-up this morning!

ReplyDelete
45. never saw it.

tin, they have free heatlcare, but we have oooooobbbammmaaaa. yippie we win again

ReplyDelete
46. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 12:52 PM

Free healthcare?

ReplyDelete
47. we have Obama, but they have single-payer.
I win!

ReplyDelete
48. hmm...well then scratch that last post of mine.

ReplyDelete
49. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 12:56 PM

My cousin who goes to London quite often on business said the Brits have horrible dental care whether it's paid for through taxes 'free' or not, it's not good quality.

ReplyDelete
50. The National Health Service.

ReplyDelete
51. Everything's free in the UK. Healthcare, housing....of course, they charge
you to watch TV and food costs an arm and a leg, and they charge you to
drive into cities, and on any paved roads....oh, and if you have a decent
job you don't get the free housing. But you can have birth all you want and
have all the surgery you want for free.

ReplyDelete
52. Derrrr. What's single payer? I guess we don't call it that?

ReplyDelete
53. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 12:58 PM

Obama was in NJ yesterday trying to rally up support for the idiot governor Corzine and all he did was screw up traffic for everyone. People I work with that normally have 45-60 minute commutes had 2-3 hour commutes.

ReplyDelete
54. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:00 PM

Cool! That's a good way to look at it. You can use your spare time to search for Sasquatch. LOL

ReplyDelete
55. The more kids you give birth to, the more the government rewards you with cash hand-outs and bigger free houses!

ReplyDelete
56. Really? Do you tune out of the healthcare debate when no one mentions boobs
for 5 minutes?

ReplyDelete
57. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:01 PM

Paid for how?

ReplyDelete
58. Knight - even the "free" treatment you have to contribute to (unless you don't have a job or are under 18 or over 65)

ReplyDelete
59. jack,

cant get into a show that the guys has a set of nuts on his chin

ReplyDelete
60. Taxes ....... how else? It's called "National Insurance"

ReplyDelete
61. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:05 PM

uk, do Brits really love and respect the royal family? I find that whole situation bizarre. As long as you were born into the royal family the rest of the British people subsidize you for life. Not just a living wage but a rich lifestyle.

ReplyDelete
62. Yeah like we're going to believe you have a job...

ReplyDelete
63. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:09 PM

I know. LOL

I get a kick out the word 'free' when the government provides a service.

ReplyDelete
64. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:09 PM

Seriously?

ReplyDelete
65. The Brits don't even take notice of the Royal family until someone dies.
it's such an inconsequential thing to them.

ReplyDelete
66. tin, recycling cans is a job, give knight a break

ReplyDelete
67. Knight, look at it this way, when you pay your taxes, does the government
give you anything for it?
When the brits pay their taxes, they get healthcare back for it, and not
just while they're working, but for life. That's why it's free, because the
government has no obligation to provide healthcare to its people.

ReplyDelete
68. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:12 PM

How do you think I can afford this sweet computer to discuss the Dolphins all day?

ReplyDelete
69. making your own knight armor out of soda cans is NOT a job....

ReplyDelete
70. wow, the SS's blog is driving me crazy. Mike and O think they need to come up with a fancy nickname for our O line. nevermind they are an o-line on a 2-3 team and havent earned one yet they think it needs one. and all the bloggers are falling in line.

i think i will just stay here and talk about boobs and bad teeth

ReplyDelete
71. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:15 PM

I think the people should revolt and refuse to pay for the royal lifestyles. It's 2009, not 599. LOL

ReplyDelete
72. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:16 PM

Very large cans by the way.

ReplyDelete
73. Did you read Armando's 'in depth' blog about the Saints run defense?
He claims that despite their ranking as the 5th best run defense, they suck
at defending the run. Then he hand picks stats to back up his theory,
abandoning the stats that don't. What he fails to do, is to then do the
exact same thing with Miami's run offense. I haven't done this (and am not
going to) but I'd bet money on the Dolphins rush yard average going UP as
the game went on and more carries accrued.
Next thing he'll be saying that Brees is a terrible 4th quarter QB, because
the numbers show his yardage dips considerably towards the end of the game.

ReplyDelete
74. Knight, they'll be dead soon anyway. The princes are both gay and won't
reproduce.

ReplyDelete
75. Always comes back to the boob-talk....

ReplyDelete
76. They used to be respected, but the Queens kids have hardly commaded respect. Charlie had a fiasco sham of a marriage, Andrew is a playboy who got involved with Koo Stark (+ etc) and Anne and Edward are wierd at best. Even the Duke of Edinburgh is off his box. They bring in a shed load of tourists, but support of the monarchy is on the wane. There will always be die-hards who keep up the tradition though. I don't think William and Harry have the stomach for it either.

ReplyDelete
77. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 1:25 PM

No obligation but it's voted for by representatives so the British people decided they want a National Healthcare system paid for through taxes. It's still not 'free'. Our government in the US gives away plenty of entitlements to people who don't pay for it. That's the new American way. Get in line and suckle off the big hog. Don't worry, people who have worked hard to earn that money will pay for it.

ReplyDelete
78. We knew LeBron James is a big fan of President Obama, but we had no idea he had such a problem with the former president. Asked who he'd most like to dunk on, LBJ says "If it doesn't have to be a basketball player, George W. Bush I would dunk on (him), break the rim and shatter the glass."

now if white player said this about obama, they would be called racist

Stiff, bend but don't break, always ready.......I say call them Viagra!

ReplyDelete
85. Seriously - in many ways, the less you have the more they give you!

ReplyDelete
86. Why would you get a viagra rep in there? Whats the point of paying for

ReplyDelete
94. The Knight who says Ni!October 22, 2009 at 2:01 PM

Did Crowder really say that?

ReplyDelete
95. Well, William is gay. Harry is a knob who is likely to be sterile, and if
he's not sterile, his ginger face will scare off any woman in a 3 mile

ReplyDelete
99. William is deffo not gay - check out his g/f - she's quite tasty and I think he dumped her but got her back again. Seems like the men in that family don't realise when they find a good one?!?

I hate all the names for the OL and it's premature anyway. Good job taking apart the stupid 'Wildebeests' name.

Did Crowder really say "They're undefeated, they're probably smelling themselves, rubbing each other's balls, all that shit..."?

ReplyDelete
104. Maybe he was more interested in flying around in helicopters late at night
with army boys than in her taboo zone....

ReplyDelete
105. Yes he did. And it's probably his last comment to the media for the rest of
the season....

ReplyDelete
106. BTW, these wildebeest ribs have no meat on them.....

ReplyDelete
109. I hope they're onto something! Can't wait for the game, so a little diversion like the Yankee game will help take my mind off it for a while!

ReplyDelete
110. Raiders Coach Tom Cable... guilty or not guilty?

ReplyDelete
111. Well I'll cast a vote of hmmmm, I don't know! Like most things, there are 2 sides to the story, each told by a biased participant in whatever happened. Obviously something happened, the guys jaw was broken. Was it a hit, a shove and he fell breaking his jaw. Either way, there had to be some kind of contact. Even with no criminal charges, you know there will be a civil suit, damages awarded or a settlement, which would have to make Cable a liability to an already out of control team. Time for CSI:NFL

ReplyDelete
112. cops say he never actually touched the assistant, who apparently fell off
his chair and broke his jaw all by himself

ReplyDelete
113. LOL @ CSI: NFL. I'd so watch that!
Personally I was shocked they didn't bring charges against Al Davis for
crimes against humanity....

ReplyDelete
114. I can't really take credit for CSI: NFL. One of my friends usually posts a link to any NFL criminal activity/arrests on facebook and that's what she calls it.

ReplyDelete
115. The Knight who says Ni!October 23, 2009 at 6:17 AM

I heard the assistant was sucking on a gob stopper also known as a 'jaw breaker' and that was the root of the problem. ; )

ReplyDelete
116. The weird thing is that they questioned the assistant FOUR times during the
'investigation'. Surely if the story was as simple as he had his feet on
the table, there was some ruckus and he fell over in the chair and smacked
his face on another table/chair, they would've gotten that the first time
around.

ReplyDelete
117. A few "red bits":
Ronde Barber is a Utd fan - another reason to cheer the Bucs on over the Pats.
No player has transferred bewteen Utd and Liverpool for 45 years!
Torres and Gerrard are doubtful for L'pool and Roon and Fletch are doubtful for Utd. I read the L'pool pair will have a fitness test Sunday morning. Not sure about our lads. Probably the same.
If Roon doesn't play, Owen may take the field. Now THAT will be fun to watch, especially at Anfield!
Btw, did you check out the youtube clips? I'm still laughing! Have you caught up with the Moscow game too?

ReplyDelete
118. I finally got the moscow game downloaded just this morning. My usual site
let me down this time. I'll watch it tonight.
Did you see the story on the Pats traveling to London? Wes Welker made fun
of Tom Brady for wearing a suit on the plane. Brady said he wouldn't take
fashion advice from Welker. Fashion advice? you're going on an 8 hour
flight overnight and are going to arrive at 5am. Wear something
comfortable, you twat! It has nothing to do with fashion...unless you're
trying to outdo Mark Sanchez for the crown of the AFC East's biggest tool.

Does Brady wear a suit when he goes to the movies too?

I want Wes back. He always was one of my fave fins. I used to defend him against naysayers like Knight defends TGJ!

125. Knight - do you think the lion with the entrails in it's mouth looks a tad nervous? As if the Wildebeest is about to pull a "clock-play" on it? LMAO

LOL

The naming of the Oline at this time is just goofy. You name a group when they've had a body of work and success for years like the Hogs or the Killer Bs or the Orange Crush or the Steel Curtain or the Purple People Eaters. Not after 5 games and a 2-3 record. LOL

Despite this being a football blog written for readers who are interested in what goes on ON THE FIELD, I'm fully aware of how stupid the massive crowd of readers who will click on this page regardless of what I write, so today we're going to talk about Dolphins linebacker/special teams ace, Erik Walden, and his love of all things related to NBC's hit series, Heroes.

135. more proof of goodell's love of his cheatroits. the bucs are leaving today for england, the cheats left yesterday why? well the nfl set when the teams were to leave. you see they are experimenting on the difference between two or three days to acclimate. now, isnt it just sssoooooo f-ing funny how the pats get more time to adjust to the time zone differences then the bucs do.

ReplyDelete
136. Yeah, but I thought you hated the Bucs. So just what are you saying? Are you some closet Bucs fan? ;~)

139. ffr, not sure there's any time zone issues, because the game is at 7pm uk time i believe, which is the same time they'd be playing anyway. The real reason the Pats went early is that Brady needed an extra day to get his suit pressed.

The NFL doesn't decide when the teams go, the teams do. They both could have held all their practices in London if they chose to. The Pats traveled at night to avoid missing practice. The Bucs chose to miss a practice AND to take advice from the Glazers. No wonder they suck.

Why mess with doing things the Bucs way. I mean look at their QBs, they're a QB factory. LOL

143. They're a chinese QB factory. Looks like a QB, but doesn't play like an
American or Japanese made one...

ReplyDelete
144. uk, for some reason I thought the Glazers had sold United. How is it
possible to have the same person run two distinctly opposite clubs?

ReplyDelete
145. ok, not sure how you two missed the fact that my point was, goodell and the nfl gave the better of the 'experiment' to the cheatriots. not sure how you two turned that into me being a buc fan. and for what it is worth, i would think this week we are all buc fans. not that they have a chance in hell.

ReplyDelete
146. ffr, the point is, the NFL didn't choose who got to go first. The teams are
allowed to go on Tuesday if they want to, but both chose to go later.
I also think you are a closet Bucs fan (just saying that to piss you off)!

ReplyDelete
147. Because you always talk about hating the Bucs. And as a hater that rant of yours should have gone more like this:

finally sum use ofr goodell's love of his cheatroits. the bucs are leaving today for england, the cheats left yesterday why? well the nfl set when the teams were to leave. you see they are experimenting on the difference between two or three days to acclimate. now, isnt it just sssoooooo f-ing funny how the pats get more time to adjust to the time zone differences then the bucs do. i htae the f-ing bucs.

See? Subtle but obvious difference.

ReplyDelete
148. tin,

not according to what is being reported by the bucs and on local radio. the nfl set their schedules cause they want to see how the time change has an effect on leaving a day later.

not sure you could call me anything on a blog and get me pissed off. oh wait, i know, you can say my leabian cheerleaders are buc cheerleaders LOL

ReplyDelete
149. The Glazers own United, but I think "running" the club might be a bit overstating it? I think they are fans with lots of money and I'm sure they have control of the purse strings, but operationally, I think they listen but don't interfere. That's why United are still winning!!!

154. ffr, i posted a link to a tampa based article that says otherwise, plus if
you go to the teams websites they say they chose when to travel. Because of
logistics and costs the teams tend to stay home till the last minute, but as
you'll see in my new article, the dolphins went early went they played.
