Dolphins brass have really lost their mind now

The Dolphins have re-signed ILB, William Kershaw.  Unless there is an injury that we don't know of to one of the linebackers, I don't see any logic behind this signing whatsoever.  Ayodele, Crowder, and Torbor have all shown improvements in their play as of late, and the injury to cornerback, Will Allen begs for a bolstering of the secondary, not the linebacker position.  Also, this can't bode well for getting Matt Roth back on the field.

Where are they going with this?  I'd say 'your guess is as good as mine' but I can't even offer a guess at this point in time.

  1. This post makes no sense. Kershaw was re-signed because he's farther along than Folsom and is a good special teams player. He's not challenging anyone on D for playing time.

It also has NOTHING to do with Roth, since they play entirely different positions.

Seriously, you have to think about things.

There are some rumors and concerns that Crowder was hurt in the Saints game and it could be a lingering injury.

I thought Kershaw played well in the preseason.

  3. The Fins are making a move for the last guy on their roster and you are saying that front office is losing their minds?  They are going with youth in secondary and they have an empty spot open.

Losing their minds would be not getting a WR when they had the opportunity..

  4. Chris, did you think about your comment before you left it?

  5. I don't see why they signed Kershaw now. We played very well on S/T
coverage yesterday and don't need another ILB on defense. To go forward at
this point with only 4 cornerbacks is LOSING YOUR MIND, in my opinion.

  6. I have no issue with Kershaw being on the team, I agree he would be a
reliable backup, but do we need 4 ILBs when we only have 4 CBs on the team?

  7. If he's a ILB, Roth has nothing to worry about.
Maybe Crowder is injured (hope not) or they want to bring him back in since he did play decent in the preseason.
Hopefully he can cover a tight end.

Tin, Crowder went for an MRI immediately after the game yesterday. The signing of Kershaw tells me Crowder is hurt.

  10. Like I said, it doesn't make sense unless there's an injury.

  11. I have a question for everyone  With the moves being made and the on field decisions and game management we have seen.  How much influence are we seeing of Bill Parcells ?

  12. Crowder had an MRI today.  Can't be a good thing with those knees of his.  Offseason extensions on defense, not looking so hot so far.  After Goodman and Hill don't get paid by us, and depart to help lead the Broncos D.  Two holdovers who got paid (Allen had a year left), have underperformed and both may be indefinitely injured.  I'd be alright with Crowder done anyway, need to find another answer in the middle.  Someone who can make a difference with their play.

  13. Now that Vontae is going to start on the right side, he won't be playing special teams anymore (or as much).  That's why Kershaw has been brought back.  The issue with Crowder helped the brass choose him vs. another, but ultimately, the Trifecta wanted another STer.  Go Vontae...show us what you've got.

  14. Keith, your explanation makes sense.

Tin, I think I remember hearing Sparano and/or Ireland say that Clemons can play some corner. Not as a starter but in nickel and dime he can do some match up stuff. Culver has show that ability too. So maybe we go with 4 CBs and 4 safeties for now. Another roster move could happen and we activate Billingsley. It's not as if we're so deep that no one is expendable. Sometimes need overrules luxury during a season.

  17. My hunch is that they signed him because he's familiar with our Defense & D schemes/calls.
If another ILB goes down ... we need a warm body to step in ... until we can find a better solution.

  18. Tin, truely I haven't seen the steady improvement by our LB's.  I think they are horrible in coverage.  maybe the coaches saw something they liked in his coverage skills? We certainly need some help covering TE's & RB's over the middle.  Then again it could be re-occuring knee problems with C. Crowder.  Time will tell.

  19. Tin,
What do you think about the chance that the time is right to slide JA into Gibril's spot? Bring in GW, YB on run heavy downs where there is a low probability of passing and bring JA now into his natural position for coverage. I mean he can still hit if they do run but now you have someone much better and coverage, a playmaker, and best part he is already on the roster!!! I don't think he will be any worse than GB in coverage right now and everyone play a position more comfortable. Like the staff says put your best players on the field as much as possible.... VD, SS, YB/GW, JA/CC that seems to be the best base D

  20. Sorry this was from me

  21. It would be worth a try, but there is also culver and clemons at safety,
both of whom are pretty good in coverage. With Will Allen going down, we
can't really afford to do a position change again with Jason. But you're
right, there's no reason why he *couldn't* be used in the dime package other
than the fact that I think they already use Culver in that spot.
