Sparano Snubbed! Again!

The Motorola Coach of the Year award goes to....Mike Tomlin? The guy who got into a fight with Santa?

For the second time out of four tries, Miami Dolphins Head Coach, Tony Sparano, failed to capture an annual coaching award. He lost out by one vote in the AP poll, then secured consecutive wins in the Pro Football Weekly and the NFL Alumni competitions.

But in the only award vote on by the fans, Sparano came up short to Pittsburgh Steelers coach, Tomlin. Tomlin's win was most likely buoyed by his teams run to the Super Bowl.

  1. When Sparano wins a Super Bowl there will be much rejoicing.

  7. Tin, obviously the last post thanking you was not made by me. The loser with no life is punching his clown and playing imposter again.

  8. I'm quite shocked that 59% of the poll takers so far have chosen Marino. Maybe they misunderstood the question or maybe Pennington isn't as popular as I thought.

  9. I voted for Marino because he is simply the best player. In his prime I'd rather have him than any QB.

By the way Tin, thanks for allowing me to be a guest blogger. : )

  10. No worries, Mr Bungle. I thought that first comment probably wasn't you, but the imposter's clever twist of starting out sounding sincere to begin the comments kind of kept it up in the air for me.

So you think Marino would fit into this regime? I could imagine Marino and Parcells getting into it. Also if Marino were on this team, none of our current WRs would even be on the team....think about it.

Well Dan would have to realize we're not going to throw it 45-50 times every week. But in 1984 Marino's best season, he only averaged 35 attempts per game. Parcells drafted Bledsoe and Marino was better than him. Parcells also opened the passing game because he had Bledsoe. Parcells is a fan of talent and Marino fits that mold. LOL

Not sure why you think none of our current WRs would be on our team if we had Marino.

  12. Because Marino was not a patient guy and he kind of always had guys that were already developed. He started out when Duper was pro-bowl caliber, and they always brought in free agent veterans for him to throw to like Keith Jackson, Fryar, Ingram, etc. I think after Ginn ran out of bounds prematurely, Marino would have demanded he be released from the team. Another example - Bess an UFA? never would've been given a chance IMO. Camarillo would never have either. With Marino around, like you said they would emphasize the passing game more which means they would've spent the cash on some top receivers.

  13. I thought it was a trick question poll designed to fry my computer. Of course Marino, but you seriously don't think Ginn would be a 1000 yard receiver with Marino at the helm? With Ricky and Ronnie, Danny would have had a hand of rings.

  14. hypothetically speaking if we had a prime Marino on the team, they never would've drafted Ronnie.

  15. Duper was only in his 2nd season when Marino was drafted in 83 and Clayton was an 8th round pick the same year.

    ReplyDelete
  16. But didn't Duper go to the pro-bowl in 84? In any event Duper was twice the WR Ginn is.

  17. Duper made the pro bowl in 83, 84 and 86.

  18. Eaxactly my point, he already had great WRs. Duper and that old guy....Nathan? Didn't Sayers play one year with Marino as well?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Duper didn't have a catch as a rookie but had a break out year in 83 with Marino who played 11 games that year so they developed together. Clayton emerged in 1984. So actually Marino, Duper and Clayton all developed together.

    Sayers?

  20. not Sayers....I forget the guys name...he's the dolphins commentator now...

  21. From that era besides the Marks brothers I remember Nat Moore, Joe Rose, TE Bruce Hardy, TE Dan Johnson and Biblical Jones.

  22. Nat Moore! I think Jimmy Cefalo was there too. Wasn't Joe Rose later? Was there really a guy named Biblical Jones?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jimmy Cefalo was another one. Joe Rose caught Danny's 1st career TD.

No Biblical Jones. I just through that one in there for laughs, at least I made myself laugh. LOL

Damn you, I've been googling the name for 10 minutes!

  25. Oddly enough there WAS a Biblical Jones - apparently a rapper (I didn't listen to the mp3s).

  26. Only a rapper would have a name like Biblical Jones. LOL
