Dolphins Getting No Love

It's still early days, but they've just released the weekly tv distribution update for week 4, and the Dolphins/Bills matchup is not even scheduled to be shown in the entire state of Florida or New York for that matter.  This stems from there being a Jets game and a Jaguars game on at the same time so it's unlikely to change.  Other than the bottom 80% of Florida and the Western 70% of New York, the game will not be transmitted locally so if you don't have Sunday Ticket, join me here for our weekly viewing party.

  1. Yeah, thank goodness for Sunday Ticket! The closest teams to me are the Pats, Jets and Bills. Before the Ticket, that's what my choices were.

  2. Tin, I just found all the posts I've ever written here under the 'admin' button, how cool is that! 8-)

  3. It show's on the Orlando Local 6 website that the Bills game will be on instead of the Jags.

  4. My suspicion is that BP will walk away after this year because we've heard nothing at all, at all, from him or about him since the season started. The team is in deep, the coaching staff is puzzled and not even a hint of fear or trepidation from Bill. This isn't right!

  5. I did mention that the bottom 80% of the state is showing the Dolphins game.  Only the top 20% is showing Jacksonville

  6. I think Parcells is on his private yacht in the Seychelles swimming in a
pool of cash. Has anyone even mentioned him recently at practices?

  7. Phinhead, I just recently moved back to S. FL. for the previous 3 yrs I was living in Melbourne fl where they get the feed from Orlando.  In the years I lived there they NEVER showed a dolphins game if the Jagoffs were playing at the same time.  Don't be surprised if when you turn on the tube expecting to watch the Dolphins that the Orlando stations are actually showing the Jags game.  I called the TV statition once and was told it's a contractual thing with the NFL and that Orlando falls in the Jacsonville demographic. (which is BS because milage wise it's closer to Miami than Jacksonville.  I just hope it's not blacked out locally.  If this one isn't I expect some towards the mid to end of the year will be with the way they are playing.

It's Tony's team. Bill knows the coaches know what's going on and they have to pick this up by their boot straps.

Parcells is a big baseball fan so he could be taking in some pennant races. I believe he's a Cardinals fan and is a close friend of Tony LaRussa.

  10. Tin, what was the coverage for Manchester, England like? Looks like I'll be joining you again. Do you want to know the Madrid result?

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL, I only have access to the US map, I'm afraid.
You can tell me any result as long as it's not United.

    ReplyDelete
  12. They won 3-0 (beat Marseille - wearers of the shirts you like) - I'm telling you only because Ronnie got 2 and Kaka got the third. Looks like the £80m on Ronnie was well spent (they are joint top of La Liga too).

  13. I'm not sure 80 million pounds (we don't have your fancy pound symbol in the
US) is ever well spent unless it's on a school that turns into a robot, but
unlike American Football, in 'soccer' you pretty much know what you're
getting in free agency. Even though it's a team game, a player's individual
skills are on display a hundred-fold to an NFL game. Think of a QB...some
argue its the WRs or the O-line (or both) that made him look good, but you
don't really have the same argument in soccer. You can't say, oh, Ronaldo
only scored 200 goals (made up number) because the goalies he faced were all
    shite....or can you?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree with you that skill is more "transparent" in soccer (partly because there's often more space to play in)? If you combine skill with work-rate, you get a Beckham, a Rooney or a Ronaldo type player and you can't really go wrong in the transfer market. But they are the best of the best. I guess a Marino or a Barry Sanders would look pretty good in most settings too. At the end of the day though, we are talking about team sports and getting a good "team" with a mix of characters, finesse players, strength players, skill players, workers etc makes winning games a whole lot easier.

Did you see the Giggs goal against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final? This does perfectly illustrate your point. United were down to 10 men and check out what he did. I guess you could get a WR or a running back to do something similar, but carrying a ball - not with it at their feet!

  16. Check out these links when you get home too. Ronnie came from a small island originally I think - he left his parents for an apprenticeship with Porto when he was young. He trained with weights on his feet so that when he took them off he'd be quicker and shiftier. It seems to have worked!? He's the closest thing to Barry Sanders with a bit of Elroy "crazy-legs" Hirsch thrown in that exists in soccer today.

  18. I'm sure by now he's some grey in there to soften the contrast...

  19. Don't worry, I am a freaking EXPERT when it comes to the Jaguars and the contractual agreement to show their games.  The Jags game is a home game, whenever the Jags play at home and the Dolphins are on at the same time, they will show the Phins game.  Because when they don't they get flooded with calls from angry fans.  They know what the fans want to see and it's the Phins.

  20. I am almost certain the game will be on in the Orlando Bright House market. There is a good chance that all the Jacksonville home games will be blacked out this season due to lack of attendance. In prior years, the Jaguars would always get priority over the Dolphins if they were playing at the same time. Being in the secondary market this year might turn out to be a good when the Jaguars are at home. We also have the nationally televised games and the games that aren't at the same time as the Jaguars. This season will probably be a record for televised games in Orlando. We are 2 for 3 this year going 3 for 4 next week. Now only if the Dolphins could win the games that are actually on in Orlando this year.

  21. It is kinda of interesting that Penny going down for year hasn't generated much on ESPN....thank the
football gods for TO,Vick and Brett playing GB!!Last thing Sparano needs is crap the Mediots are
putting Andy Reid thru......sometimes NO Love is a good thing

  22. My Brother lives in Oveido and all he gets are the Jags games.  He's not very pleased about that.  So he heads to BBW in Cassleberry to watch most of the games if they aren't on cable.  I live at the very north end of Dolphin coverage so if they are not blacked out we get the games.  If they continue to play as they are I'll be watching on Tins site, because I don't see the fans down south supporting the team through another dismall year in this economy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. UMMMM..... did you mean BWW (for Buffalo Wild Wings) not BBW, because if you meant the latter, that's kinda wierd :-P

    ReplyDelete
  24. very true. Of course, if the fins have a losing record at the end of the
year, the talking heads will say it's because Pennington went down....

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't know where Oviedo is, but the Dolphins game is being shown from Key
West to Gainesville. Anywhere South of Gainesville is getting the Dolphins
game, and anywhere north of Gainesville, including the panhandle, is getting
    the Jaguars game.

    ReplyDelete
  26. tin,  i looked the other day and unless they changed the listing, the game was going to be on in tampa. it will suck if they changed it

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ok, for the FINAL time, everywhere SOUTH of Gainesville is getting the
Dolphins game. If you live in Tampa, Orlando, WPB, Oviedo, etc, you are
getting the Dolphins game on local TV. The only change would be if it
doesn't sell-out, in which case anyone living in a 75 mile radius from the
stadium would be blacked out. I know there's some tickets still available
but I think they had reached the minimum already to lift a blackout.

  28. ffr:
You have been here chatting and watching anyway, what difference does it make?

    ReplyDelete
  29. the difference is about 60 inches.  i chat and watch the game on my tv, not a 12 inch stream.

tin,  i posted that before i saw your post about south of tebowville, but can i ask you something DO YOU KNOW IF THE GAME WILL BE ON IN TAMPA  :-D

  30. dont know why but the last post said guess but it was from me

  31. Ok, size matters!  And if I don't catch you tomorrow, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  :*

  32. Yea that's the place, I've only been there once.  We like Jack Miller Ale House better, at least in this area.

    ReplyDelete
  33. yeah, is it on in Gainesville?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes, it's on in Gainesville.....
