Wherever You Will Go

For as long as I can, and as often as I can, I will be live streaming the games along with a side-by-side chat for those of us who can't watch it on TV, and those of us who can but want to join in on the chat.  Due to my being a rookie at this, there probably will be some hiccups along the way, but I will be doing a test run before Sunday, probably using a college game as the test (any requests?).

The relevant information:  On game day (9/13, 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific), I will post a link here on this site.  That link will open a new window which will contain the video and chat.  The video can be switched easily between the chat screen and full video screen.  Dan Dierdorf and Greg Gumbel will be the commentators, so the chat might be very fun.
On a side note, for those interested in watching the game on TV it will be shown in the following markets on CBS:
Florida - Southeast, Southwest (incl Tampa), and the Panhandle.
Georgia - From I-75 West.  Sorry for any Falcons fans who live East of I-75.
Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina and North Carolina - 95% of these States will show the Miami game.
Mississippi - the Westernmost third of the State.
West Virginia and Virginia - The Southernmost tip of WV (South of, but not including Charleston) is getting the game along with the part of Virginia that borders this area.
California - I couldn't make this up if I tried, but the region just outside of Bakersfield that consist mainly of Tehachapi, Mojave and California City, is the only part of CA showing the Dolphins game.  Quite ironic considering the place is barely inhabited and very dry where Dolphins wouldn't thrive at all.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is the area where Jim Morrison went to speak to the Indian Spirit Guide.  update - Bakersfield now included in coverage area.
And finally, for some strange reason, the more populated areas of Montana, i.e. Missoula, Butte, Helena, etc. are also getting the Dolphins game.

  1. tin, you sure the game will be on in tampa.  they dont usually play afc vs nfc games in tampa do to tampa being a nfc market.  maybe it is cause the bucs are playing at home they are showing the game.

  2. FFR, I never really understand the TV distribution thing but I read
somewhere that since Miami is the road team, the game gets shown on CBS.
The Tampa game is on Fox.
Basically, if Atlanta were playing in Miami, then the game would be on Fox,
and if Miami were playing in Tampa, the game would be on CBS.
    Does that make any sense?
Oh, and according to my sources, there will be no Fox games shown in
Atlanta. The TB game on the other hand, WILL be shown in South Florida. Go
    figure.

  3. oh ok, i see, now try explaining all that if it is a 4pm kick off.

either way, i will still be here to chat.  always fun to watch the game and chat with other dolphin fans.  hey, i will even bring the wings.

  4. 4pm kickoff is easy....you'll be watching the Giants/Redskins game like 90%
    of the country

Hey Tin, do you know if Suffolk, Virginia is included in that list?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Sorry, NSIAL, Suffolk is stuck with KC vs Baltimore and Dallas vs Tampa Bay.

But at least you get to live in Suffolk.

Do you ever have a conversation that goes like this:

    "So, where are you from?"
    "Suffolk, yourself?"

Tin, did you know you can now get the NFL Ticket online for a one time fee of $34.95?

I've been hearing it advertised on sports radio in New York so it's legit.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Knight:

I don't think it is nfl ticket.  How do you know it isn't someone telling you how to connect to justintv for $35?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Those things are scams.

    ReplyDelete
  11. exactly. Scams get advertised on local radio all the time. There was a
huge one a couple years ago....free xboxes or something like that.

  12. The Knight who says Ni!September 10, 2009 at 10:42 AM

herd, I first herd about it on WFAN a big sports radio station in NY and they're running advertising about it. That's all I know. I didn't think justintv was legit but more bootleg like.

  15. The Knight who says Ni!September 10, 2009 at 10:54 AM

I'd be shocked that WFAN is running scam advertising. They're also the flagship station for the New York Mets and some other local sports teams I forgot which ones because it's changed. I'm not saying it's never happened but that I would be shocked they would do it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Honestly, I don't know anything about it.  But my two cents, I don't know that I would base legitimacy on whether or not a TV or radio station would air an ad.  They run ads for policticians, they would do anything for a buck.

I guess it could be legit, but I thought DirectTV paid some significant cash to be exclusive.

And if it is a scam, they are pricing it right, IMO.  Enough to make you believe it, not enough to get you to hire a lawyer to get it back!!

  24. tin,

in that picture above, is that randy with his bucket by his feet?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great news tin.  I live within the blackout area and no longer have the nfl package from directv.  We see enough games without them and we get all the phins games if they are not blacked out.  So for me this is great, Iwill now be able to see a game if they don't sell out.

On a different note thanks for all your help.  I have created a blog site as you suggested and I am working on getting the local pros to supply some content so I am in the waiting mode at this time.  Many people here have commented to you about this site and the great job you have been doing.  I can only say to them to keep tuning in, because without the bloggers all your work is for nothing.  GREAT JOB TIN AND THANKS.   Fangs out

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well since randy refuses to visit this site, then YES. YES IT IS!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. And I ask this for professional reasons.  We get calls all the time, wanting to know if we do any procedures to help in that regard.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Fangs out....so cheesy....lol
anyway, that's great, Fang. Now you'll have to figure out how to ship cakes
    cross country!

  29. why, looking for some help for your husband.

in tampa we have a commercial (it may air in other cities too) that the woman talks about the product and she says "it gives you that innnncrrreddible width that alllllll women just looovveee"  and here i thought it was all about the length  LOL

    ReplyDelete
  30. didnt know randy refused to visit the site, what happen, you make fun of him on the ss and pissed him off too

    ReplyDelete
  31. There is, but it's a whole county, not a town.

    ReplyDelete
  32. He visits, he just won't comment.  IMO, he likes to think of himself as a conscientious objector, by not commenting.   I think he is afraid Tinshaker will earn something from it!

You think I would know that being in marketing and advertising. I guess because our clients aren't scams and most of them are uncomfortable overly exaggerating their product or service, I guess I've lost sight of that crazy world of advertising.  :-E

  35. funny, i would rather crap then watch a jets game

  36. I would think that what you do DOES help in that regard...

  37. Tin its not the fins but how about throwing up the chat/viewer for tonights game for a test run?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Brian, I was thinking about it but I don't know if I can get home and set up
in time. Those Thursday night games are rough on us West-Coasters.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Understood, If it happens great, if not Ill just talk to myself during the game lol We all survived another off season, OPENING GAME IS TONIGHT YEAH BABY.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Tin, what time are you setting up on Sunday and what is needed to log in? Is the log in quick?

    ReplyDelete
  41. uk, there will be no log in, just get here and type your name in and thats
    it.
I will log on around 9:30ish my time which is....4:30 yours?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Even I can manage that. 1pm Eastern is 6pm UK (except when daylight savings are out of synch either side of the pond when it's 5pm). So if you set up 30 mins before k.o. that will be 5:30 for me. See you then!
Btw, is it a link, or a feed from justin. Links seem better quality but drop less then justin? Justin can freeze though.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Goodie, just in time to get home from church.

I'm teaching Sunday school this year.   O:-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. It'll likely be the same justin link I used the last couple of times, there
was no freezing or hiccups either time. If I can get a good homer link I'll
use that too. There will be a console with different choices on it.
Are you sure about the time? My phone says you're 7 hours ahead of
    California. Damn A T & T!

  48. Tin - positive on timings - 6pm UK = 1pm Eastern on Sunday. Coverage on Sky starts at 5:30 for a 6pm k.o. for Vikes Browns. Looks like there are no alternate interactive games this year - there was always one early and 1 late alternate which increased the chances of seeing the fins. I'm thinking of cancelling Sky. :(

Herd - what classes will you be giving - mixology with baking?!? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  49. alex, you're one to talk, you never helped me out with my at&t issues!

  56. herd you're kidding us right ?  If that's true I'm renaming something just for you.  I'm writing a cookbook fre our Family and gining it to them for a Christmas gift along with some homemade vanilla extract.  I sometimes use a Family members name to name the recipe after them if it's a favorite recipe for them, such as this.Fangs Brownies.  I'll now have to remane that Brownie recipe just for you and name it Fangs Sunday School Brownies.  These damn brownies are going to be world reknown :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Honestly, why is this so hard to believe?  lol

This will actually be my second time around as a SS teacher, did it a few years ago, and it's taken me this long for the memory to fade enough for me to try it again.  Or probably more accurately, it has taken this long for THEIR memory of me to fade!

I'd be honored with the mention in your book.  And if you need an eggnog recipe, I'll send it to Tinshaker to forward on.  It is heavenly!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I have an eggnog recipe my wife has from her Mom. It's to die for, and it can also get you ripped after a few of them. It's a true old fashion eggnog that allows the whiskey to do the cooking of the eggs. Increase the whiskey and the memory gets a little foggy on why you volunteered to be a Sunday School Teacher :).

Some of you were discussing a pattern of who might be the troll and impostor. All you need to do is go to the "Dolphins Unfiltered with Channing Crowder" on the SS and when the Dolphins/Falcons game predictions start toward the end of the blog you tell me if you don't see a clear pattern. : )

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm not sure, but are you insinuating that HSB is the imposter?

I think we're spending too much time focusing on this guy, but just to let you know, the imposter/fan is not located in Florida.  That much I already know.

    ReplyDelete
  61. The Falcons ran it last year in week 17 and Norwood scored a TD - will likely do it more this year. word is they've been practicing it a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The Knight who says Ni!September 11, 2009 at 9:23 AM

Tin, I was called out as Bungle by possibly the impostor 'Home' about my game prediction stuff and then 'fan' shows up reposting my view of the game earlier in the week or whenever it was from your site. it's really hard to figure out when it's Home or it's not. One moment you're having a conversation with him and it's civil but a little out there, because that's the way home is (LOL), then he's calling me an idiot and other names. Then he seems to be back as the normal Home. All I'm saying is that there are strange coincidences when the Home name is posting.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I think the main problem with the Home comments is that he doesn't usually
come out and say 'that comment was not me' but he does on rare occasion,
which makes it hard to tell which one is the impostor. But, considering HSB
lives in Florida, it seems unlikely that the IP address of the impostor is
    him.

    ReplyDelete
  64. The Knight who says Ni!September 11, 2009 at 9:47 AM

I think there is a real Home, the one that was sending you camp photos. I'm just wondering whether or not the impostor and trolls are one guy or more than one. I don't know and I get tired of dealing with it. I don't understand why people feel the need to screw up blogs for people who want to discuss football and their teams. I could see politics or some other social topic drawing anger and attacks, but what's the deal with football blogs? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  65. Personally, I watch football because it's entertaining, not because I
believe it's a microcosm of the world in general. I mean, fans of American
Idol don't break down into political diatribes and personal attacks, do
    they?

    ReplyDelete
  66. The Knight who says Ni!September 11, 2009 at 9:58 AM

I don't know, did you ever see the video of the Britney fan crying and saying leave her alone? I think young people freak out when it comes to their pop icons. Look at the early 60s with girls friggin crying, fainting and soaking their panties over the Beatles. That's emotional stuff right there. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  67. yeah it's emotional, but did any of those fans turn on each other in the
audience because one was democrat and the other republican?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Knight and Tinshaker:

I have long suspected that some of the imposter posts weren't really that  but more a convenient excuse.  I'll agree about the not in FL thing to an extent, based on what I was told by the SS in response to the posts last week directed at me.  I also know you can have remote log-ins, access the internet, and it would muddy the water as far as where a post comes from.  And in truth, we really don't know anything about anyone.  For all you know, I'm some hick middle aged man with a beer gut and no teeth living in a trailer park in Ohio!!  Well, I think Tinshaker knows better, he has seen some of my info.  HEY WAIT A MINUTE!!!   It's you, isn't it?  j/k  lol

FWIW, I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea either.  I could tolerate the crap, ignore it or just not read it.  But like I said before, when someone posted my real name as a screen name, that crossed a line and made me think a little more about things.

herd, I don't expect the blogs to be perfect and there will always be idiots and silliness on them. Go to the Herald and read Armando's blog, it's like the land of the loons. But when it starts to get personal and stays that way day after day and goes on for months and maybe even years, then I gotta go on the offensive.
