New Dolphin - Richie Incognito, G

I really can't be bothered to write about this, I think we've already said all there is to be said, so here is a brilliant cut and paste job instead:

"In a continued effort to strengthen its offensive line, the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday reached agreement on a one-year contract with temperamental guard Richie Incognito, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Incognito

The 26-year-old Incognito, a five-year veteran, spent his entire career with St. Louis after being drafted in the third round in 2005, but his tenure ended late last season following his second benching of the season by the Rams.

In a 40-point December loss to the Titans, Incognito drew two personal foul penalties for head-butting opponents, was benched by coach Steve Spagnuolo and watched the second half from the bench with a poncho over his head.

Incognito, who was named the dirtiest player in the NFL earlier in 2009 by The Sporting News, was later fined $50,000 by the NFL for the head butts.

Two days after the loss to Tennessee, Incognito was waived by the Rams, then claimed by the Bills the following day. He started the final three games for Buffalo.

In 2008, Incognito criticized the Rams' dwindling fan base in 2008, made an obscene gesture to a TV cameraman during practice and encouraged hecklers by cupping his hands to his ears while leaving the field after a loss.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report."

8. So much for the No Problem Children, that went right out the window.

I understand why we all want to aquire Alter Boys to play for the phins. On the other hand if he improves the oline, and doesn't beat his wife, and stays clean off the field who cares if he has a mean streak that is over the top. If he is unable to control his anger on the field then he won't be playing.

At this time he is competetion and not a starter. If D Thomas is as good as many people want to beleive, Incognito will be no more than a backup. My feeling is the trifecta don't beleive Thomas is a the answer at right guard and that is why Richie is here. I think this guy will be the starter when the year starts, and that will make the oline that much better, and will make V Carey better also.

I like the move..

11. saw those at the state fair, they looked disgusting but everybody that got one said they were great.

12. Ick...that pic you used to use was disgusting enough for me. But that reminds me, I had a green donut this morning to celebrate St. Patrick's day!

13. Tin,
Not sure if he fits the part of FS, but I think we need more capable veteran experience back there.

The thing about the trifecta saying they want high character guys is more about draft picks especially high draft picks, and building the core of the team with those types of guys. It doesn't mean they will field a team of choir boys.

Fang, Incognito has a very good chance to start unless he implodes.

15. Considering we just failed on getting a SS to play FS, I don't see why we'd
want to try it again.

16. I wished a guy a Happy St Patrick's Day today and his response was "I'm not
Catholic!"
What a total dickhead...

17. But everyone is Irish on St. Patricks Day, right? You're right....dickhead! lol

18. unless he implodes....from what I read that is almost likely to happen. I am thinking Tony was a little skeered last year when his OLine was dropping like flies, so maybe he wants more depth back there...just seems odd because they have in the past made a big deal about quality character...

ReplyDelete
19. so on st. patty's day, every one is a irish catholic dickhead.

20. Tin, I heard about those Krispy Kreme burgers and they sound disgusting but I also heard people thought they were great. Those must be what Incognito eats before games, all that sugar sends him over the edge.

I doubt he was a choir boy so that means he will head butt anyone who wishes him happy St. Patrick's Day! I'm not catholic either and everyone buys me beer today, I can't figure it out...

Tin, so the guy was Dickolic.

Like I said earlier, the high character thing comes into play much more with high draft picks and a big investment is being made.

23.
One other thing on Incognito; everyone talks about how big Parcells is on character but history would tend to tell a different tale. One name that comes to mind in a big way is Laurence Taylor… LT was no choir boy and has admitted to taking a lot of banned substances during his playing days. Anyone who thinks a player can hide doing drugs in the locker room is kidding themselves. Anyone who thinks a player (even in golf) can womanize and the other players not know about it is kidding themselves. Locker rooms are fraternities, kind of like going to Vegas, what goes on in the locker room stays in the locker room. What’s the point?

Parcells and every player on the Giants team were well aware of LT doing lines before games. Wannstedt and every player in the Dolphin locker room were well aware that Ricky liked his weed. And everyone knows Rickie Incognito is a mean obnoxious bastard, but they don’t care, what they care about is winning football games because that’s what puts the money in everyone’s pocket and, here’s the big and all the fans really care about is winning football games. So the character talk is just BS to appease the sports writers because the sports writers are the ones who will start a stink any time a Laurence Philips shows up in the locker room. I believe even a jerk to the degree of Laurence Philips once graced the Dolphin locker room and everyone knew it.

24. Even if you're not Irish, Catholic, or an Alcoholic, it doesn't mean the day
ceases to exist!
It's like someone wishing someone a Happy New year and the person replying,
"Oh, well I don't follow the Julian Calendar..."

25. Aren't choirboys MORE likely to act out due to the molestations?

ReplyDelete
26. LMAO, dickolic, isnt that what britney spears suffers from or is that a dickcoholic

27. Tin, maybe he was a choir boy!!! Hey I'm off to drink some green beer. Have a happy and safe St. Patrick's day and remember, it's amateur night so stay off the roads.

31. Dang I just found out that day 3 of the Draft starts at 10am eastern, i.e.
7am Pacific. Don't these people know half the fans are asleep then? it's
bad enough that Day 1 and 2 start during working hours.

When is Day 1 and Day 2? And no, nobody cares about the people in the West with their dry heat, awesome surfing conditions, mudslides, brush fires and earthquakes. :-P

33. FFR, did you see this? I think the new USF coaching staff might be a little

Molesters on the other hand...

ReplyDelete
35. !!!! We agree !!!!! I didn't think I would ever see that :) He starts where ever he goes, I think he will start here also. The character issue is some times blown out of porportion. These guys are people and they are going F up at times, such as a DUI, I don't think the team likes that very much. But those things don't effect what happens on the field.

You're right on with charactor being important for the larger investments of the team. I think that is the reason Brandon Marshall will never see a Dolphin jersey and that is a good thing.

36. Awesome surfing conditions? Sure, if you can breathe through the smoke....
Day 1 is on Thursday 22nd 6pm , Day 2 is Friday 23rd 6pm , and Day 3 is
Saturday 24th, 10am.

37. I lived in Florida for 8 years, and I think I will take my chances with the
dry heat than the hurricanes. Last time I went through a hurricane I had to
scoop dead livestock out of my pool (is it still LIVE stock if its dead?).
Hmm...broken roof, dead animals, no electricity, or having to drink some
cool water....which should I pick....

38. "But those things don't effect what happens on the field"
But Incognito's 'F ups' have all been ON THE FIELD.
I don't care what he does at home or when he's out with his buddies, what I
care about is the game, and he is a liability when in uniform. And maybe
it's my soccer roots showing, but I do prefer to have 'quality people' on
the team because I care about the reputation of the team. I don't want the
media to be busy talking about someone's indiscretions while they should be
talking about the play on the field. The media only cares about negative
stories and drama - I would prefer to win games without either.

40. Thought you were an Athiest Tin ??
NOT that I care, but all the more reason for you & dickolic to share a beer and reminise...
What an azzzz-WHOLE,(meaning his entirety as a person)!!

Posted this elsewhere, but seeing that the PATTY's day talk is here,

Sid Rosenberg asked CC on the radio today,IFF he'd ever had sex w'an IRISH girl,
w'out thought CC immediatly replied,"" Never bothered to ask""...

SR,CC,the ENTIRE studio as well as myself were ROTFLOAO!! CC's quite the character!!

On another backhanded note,
Sid was ripping AAyodele to CC,
suggesting that @ ILB Akin/ANYBODY should accumilate 50 plus tackles(ACCIDENTLY)!!!
CC (51 tackels) agreed !!!

41. Everyone I know of my generation that was raised catholic is now an atheist
or agnostic. I'm always surprised by how large the crowds are at the
Vatican.

ReplyDelete
42. I am an atheist but I raised Catholic. I even led the reading at my first
communion - it was in a cathedral full of about 2000 people. I'm pretty
sure I talked longer than the bishop and the priest combined. All I know
for sure is that I had the nicest candle out of all the boys, or at least
that's what the priest said....

43. LMAO!!!

He probably liked you best b/c of your lenghtened speech w'out taking a breath, and of course your candle.. O:-)
