ReplyDeleteI have to say I interpreted the 'can't afford to be fans' statement completely differently than you guys. I think you'll find that most 'beat writers' don't support the team they write about. In a way it's a good thing because they can be objective, or at least they should be, but even Omar, as informative as he may be, still gets pulled in by his bias. He is not a Dolphins fan. He is a college fan and only one college, U of Miami. He thus follows their graduates more than he follows any one team, but it's obvious that he's become gaga over the Ravens.
It's also pretty obvious that the new sidekick, Berardino, is a Jets fan, that is when he can stop babbling about baseball.
The only SS guys who like the Dolphins are Harvey and Hyde.
I don't fault Omar for liking the Ravens, or anything that has been touched by Frank Gore, but the constant whining about having to cover football from August to January is a bit over the top. I don't remember him doing it last year, but I guess I didn't start reading his blog till around this time a year ago.

ReplyDelete13 i'm not sure about Vick going to the redcoats. If Brady comes back as strong as ever why would anyone pull him for even one play. Brady can do more for NE than Vick will ever do if healthy. I just can't see Brady coming out for anyone. That's just my thoughts on it.

ReplyDeletePretty sure that Mike B is a Dol-fan and I know Harvey is a G-Men supporter. I think ,as sportswriters who cover a team, they have to be noncommital as far as rooting to remain objective. In today's day and age its kind of a welcome sight. No rose colored glasses. Always getting it straight regardless of preference. I think it shows professionalism in an industry where every writer/columnist/blogger is lacking basic journalism skills. No offense Tin...J/K you the man!! In the internet era where being the 1st to scoop a story is more important than making sure you report the correct info. much of the time integrity is the 1st thing sacraficed.
