Well it has been a rapid fire couple of days here at Tin's Fins and around the NFL. I believe two things right now, first that with the holiday weekend upon us, I may not have time to update the site for a couple of days, and second, that the flood of posts may have caused some readers to miss one here or there. So I'm doing another round-up style post to make sure everyone has reading material and things to think about when they're not BBQing or upside-down water-skiing.
But before I get to that, there is some interesting news. NY Jets linebacker, Calvin Pace, has been suspended for the first four games of the season. This is very interesting because we play the Jets in week 5. What does that mean? It means that Vernon Gholston or some other back-up will be starting for four weeks and then Pace will come back and essentially have 'rust' on him as he plays in his first game whereas Jake Long will be well into full-season form.
OK, now, in case you missed it, here's what's been posted this week on Tin's Fins:

OK, now, in case you missed it, here's what's been posted this week on Tin's Fins:
- It all started as we took a pre-training camp look at the outside linebackers in 'Outside I Feel A Rush'.
- Then the Dolphins released their training camp schedule with every practice open to the public.
- On Monday, Dennis Green said there's no way that Michael Vick wouldn't end up with the Dolphins.
- On Tuesday, we broke down the pre-training camp Defensive Line in 'The First Line of Defense'.
- Later that same day, the Dolphins announced the signing of rookie WR Pat Turner.
- And then, that evening, I got a phone call from Jason Taylor asking me to feed his dog because he was out of town in the Virgin Islands. Something about a court case....I didn't understand since I live in Sacramento and he lives in Miami...
- The next day was the 1st of July and we saw Pennington topless (I'm still having vision problems), ranted about the Miami media obsessing about the Jets/Mark Sanchez, and found out Michael Vick is mentoring kids right now...
- This led me to an editorial on image in the NFL after Taylor quickly redirected media attention away from his legal issues.
- Wednesday also brought a Davone Bess radio interview where he discussed what he thought about being impersonated, and shared some notes from the NFL.
- At this point I thought I would actually LISTEN to some radio (something I NEVER do, more of an iPod guy myself) but instead of sweet sweet music I turned to Sirius NFL radio and caught this clip of a Miami fan who sounded ALOT like Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down, The Foot Fist Way, Pineapple Express).
- I then woke up on Thursday to discover that JD Folsom had signed his rookie contract with the Dolphins. This had apparently happened on Tuesday, the same day as Patrick Turner, yet Mike Berardino wrote that day that he "talked with seventh-rounder J.D. Folsom, the ex-Weber State LB, but he said his agent and the Dolphins are still talking." They must have been talking about where they were going to lunch, because the deal was done.
- Following all that, I posted this round up article. And then I wished everyone a Happy 4th of July, known in the US as Independence Day, and everywhere else as 'Saturday'.
Everyone have a fun and SAFE independence day weekend!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, this is the new Dolphins Cheerleader's "Away" uniform.

ReplyDeleteDolphins | Davis cleared of charges
ReplyDeleteThu, 02 Jul 2009 14:44:05 -0700
Edgar Thompson, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins CB Vontae Davis has been cleared of all charges stemming from a traffic incident in Champagne Ill., because the police are satisfied that Davis was not the person they pulled over. "We have dismissed the traffic ticket and ordinance violation issued in Vontae Davis' name. We are satisfied that he was not the individual we had contact with June 9, 2009. We are working to identify who the individual actually is and pursue charges against him. We regret any embarrassment or inconvenience this situation has caused for Mr. Davis," said John F. Murphy of the Champaign police department in a statement.
Sounds like our Police dept. here in psl just kidding. You would think that a police dept. would know who they are holding over night.
