- The New England Patriots had their first training camp practices today, and as usual, Tom Brady was the star of the show. More than one million reporters showed up to Gillette Stadium, and started drooling over the Brady non-story, which in turn caused a lightning storm, which brought practices to a close. You see, unlike Miami, who just move inside under the bubble, when the weather gets bad, the Pats just piss off for the day! Meanwhile, Randy Moss did not attend practice along with several other players. The Pats are pretty banged up right now. And while they haven't said NO like the Dolphins, the Pats via Belichick suggested they were not looking to sign Michael Vick "right now". That means they will try to do it later.
- The Buffalo Bills aren't exactly healthy either, but at least they are signing draft picks finally. Their top pick, Aaron Maybin remains unsigned but they locked up Eric Wood and Jairus Byrd yesterday. Despite signing his rookie contract, Byrd is not practicing because he underwent sports hernia surgery 2 weeks ago. Hmm, a rookie CB who can't practice or play through pre-season...what are the odds of him making the roster? Why even bother giving him a big contract?
- The Jets are reporting to camp tomorrow and the big story is that Leon Washington is still not happy and may (probably will) hold out. Also the consensus is that Mark Sanchez will be the starter from Day One, but that's more because the other two QBs suck, than Sanchez making huge strides. In fact, the only positive thing I've heard about Sanchez is more to do with his personality than his ability to throw the ball. I think the days of the shoot-outs between the Dolphins and the Jets are over for now. Well, we might have to pass a lot against them as their front 7 is pretty good. But their offense should be very run/screen happy. By the way, I accidentally saw a replay of the 'hail mary' from week one last year and just when I thought I had scrubbed it out of my eyes, it's back again. I can't believe the Dolphins secondary just stood there and watched Stuckey make the catch. Renaldo Hill locked on to the ball for a good 2 and a half seconds and did NOTHING. The only DB who tried to make a play was Jason Allen but he was boxed out by another Jets player. Let's hope more of those plays go in OUR favor this year. A fan mentioned yesterday that had we held on that final play in Houston or had one play go our way in week one, we would've won 13 games last year. We literally were that close. 2 plays all season long cost us two games.
Some sports reporters in New York think that Kellen Clemons will win the starting job because of experience and he has never really been given a chance. In 07 they said it would be an open competition but Pennington was named the starter early on in training camp. Then obviously Favre was handed the job last year.
ReplyDeleteSome people in the Jets organization like Clemons and regardless of Sanchez's draft status, contract and celebrity, he's still a rookie.
I believe it's spelled Clemens. My recollection of last year was that the
ReplyDeleteJets went after Favre because neither Pennington or Clemens were able to
separate and show they were THE GUY. Also, Clemens is quite arrogant in the
few occasions I've seen interviews - that may have hurt him with Mangini,
but I doubt Ryan thinks its a bad trait for a leader on his team, so maybe
you're right. But then again, the New York Jets beat writers tend to be
barely able to follow the team. The guy I read is always babbling about
golf. He's the Berardino of the North!
Tin,
ReplyDeleteYou used a great line to catch my attention... Not that is matters because I read everything. I was hoping deep down that is really would be true. Well I hope that it rains for the next month in NE. That way they can just keep canceling practice. I really hope our team does not get bitten by the injury bug.. Hopefully that bug does not like the heat and stays in the North East.

As far as the roster being at 82 still. I was reading that until we sign our last 3 picks our roster is still at 79. Let’s get these guys signed. No one likes a rookie that holds out of camp because of the money. The learning curve is steep in the NFL and for rookies it is worse.
it WAS true, there were lots of lights on him....as in cameras, etc.
ReplyDeleteIt's all semantics, either way 2 people have to go. For what it's worth,
there are rumblings that Vontae Davis will get signed today or tomorrow.
Clemons is rumoured to be unhappy with the length of the contract off he
got. Pat White should be done soon as well.
Yeah I got you now.. I am just tired of waiting. I have been so tired of the BS writing that the SS and ESPN is writing about. Everything they write on the blogs are not even really good topics to write about. Thanks for actually writing about stuff that matters and interacting with your MOB.... Maybe we should come up with a different name.
ReplyDeleteI know this isn't a Madden '10 blog but I just downloaded the complete roster ratings from EA for Madden '10 and it has me frothing at the mouth! WTF are these guys thinking? They have Mark Dirty Sanchez rated as a 78 overall as a rookie while Chad Henne who has had a year in the NFL working behind Penne has a 66 overall! JT is a 79? Hardly any of our players even break out of the 70's. ARRRRGGHHHH!! I Freaking Hate Madden! I wish they didn't have exclusive rights.
ReplyDeleteYeah it was a huge slap in the face. Roth, JT, CP, CH WA and the list goes on were dissed. I read somewhere that they made Sanchez better because he is going to be starter. Well if you look at the Vikings both of their QBs are in the 60s. Could you say that they were banking on Farve coming out of retirement? My PS3 name is SilensLetum. I think. I can not remember if there is a space in there.
ReplyDeleteOh come on Tin, you're going to call me out because of an 'e'? LOL
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't that Pennington and Clemens couldn't separate themselves, Pennington was clearly a better QB, but Clemens has the stronger arm. The Jets felt they needed a big arm (Favre) even though they had no WRs to throw to. LOL
You have to see the link I just added to the blog re: Tom Brady.
ReplyDeleteI think mob pretty much says it all, even when looking at the SS blogs and we see the mob mentioned we all know who they are talking about.
ReplyDeleteMr. Special is back. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat is some weak shit. I also have PS3 ,but avioded the '09 version of Madden. I heard it was terrible with gameplay locking up constantly in franchise mode. Pretty much all I use the game for so I decided to pass. Hopefully they update the player ratings or I might be playing my '08 for another year.
ReplyDeleteTin
ReplyDeletewas I the "Fan" u were referring to about my SS post to Knight recanting 1st jet game and texan game near wins
Ah shucks
I`m gonna blush
Do either of you know how the Rating update is going to work? Because to me it seems kind of pointless, because once you start the Franchise the players ratings are locked. I know that I would not start over because there were some updates. I think they should get the product right the first time. I have every Madden all the way back to 97 so I feel obligated to get 2010. I wish they would change some stuff when it comes to Franchise. I think it was NFL 2k5 or 6 that my friend had and I enjoyed the game play and extra stuff more.
ReplyDeleteTin,
Sorry to change the subject of the Blog.
I don't mind, I play Madden too though not as much as I'd like to. I didn't
ReplyDeleteknow they updated ratings, I thought they just updated rosters.
I think this is going to be the first year that they update the ratings. I went to that Brady linl and left a comment. Let's see if it gets approved.

ReplyDeleteU gonna be making an appearance at camp?
SS put up today photo of 1st day of camp frim last season
ReplyDeleteMiami Herald ran similiar photo
Home SuperBowl 2010 is in both pctures
It was brutally hot that day
That was the cnter shot of the crowd
Most folks did not last, they melted
It was not as busy as it appears not even 1000 attended 1st day but beleive it was a weekday
Nice when not so crowded
Also think its alot cooler to see players without helmets
Got great photos and autographs from Sparano Long Brown Holiday Bess Crowder Wilford Torbor Fields and fired kicker Jay Feeley
I read it on an EA blog. One of the game designers was saying that THIS year they are going to update the individual player ratings througout the year, but he didn't give specificts on how, when or how often.
ReplyDeleteRalph, you should go to EAsports.com and read up on it. I did read some stuff about them adding to / changing the franchise mode. Now they have even added an on-line franchise mode. Kind of like the old Leage play but with a lot more features. Here's the link to a video of the designers talking about the new online franchise mode and it's features

Thanks.. I will have to check it out later. They block those kinds of videos at work.
ReplyDeleteHome,
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that you got to meet and get all of their autographs. I sure wish that I lived close enough to make it to training camp. I have been kicking around the idea of going to the Lions camp just to experience it.
Hearing bankruptcy judge may force Vick into playing in UFL
ReplyDeletePossible 2 million pay check foe 6-7 games
Has to make best choice to pay back debtors
UFL willing to pay more
Bidding war could ensue for desperate NFL teams weak at QB position
If I was Vikings I would put up 2-3 million
I mean Matty Cassel just got 63 million
If Brady this year is worth 15+ million
Think Vick could take off with Vikings esp for 2-3 million
Good Day Fin fans
No, unfortunately I live on the West Coast.
ReplyDeleteRalph
ReplyDeleteYeah, The photos we really cool cuz they were taken literally 2 feet from players faces holding camera thru the chain link face while players stopped and signing
Which one is you, oh don't tell me, the guy wearing the dolphins hat? lol
ReplyDelete
I believe that today there will be a couple of signing ammouncements coming out of Dolphins HQs. The player before and after Davis signed yesterday. Jenkins has yet to sign so that could be why Davis has yet to sign. Josh Freeman signed yesterday so White should follow being that he was the 4th QB taken and both player around him are signed. What is really funny is that the source has White's position as athlete not QB or WR.

Sorry herdfan I miss most of the replies for some reason, Most of the time when Tin has a great conversation going on with all of you I see it a day later. I never seem to get in on it, most of you are probably happy about that. :) Anyway let me know how the brownies turn out. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteYEA,but we probably pulled-out a game or two w'one play, suggesting that 11-5 is probably pretty accurate!!
ReplyDeleteI shoulda had a 77 @ the golf course if it weren't for the 3 double bogey's,but then again I had 3 rare birdies,so the score of 80 is probably pretty accurate, jussayin it all evens-out in the end...
Coulda got an 83 w'out the birdies,or a 77 w'out the Dbogey's,so 80 is fair,as is 11-5...
