JD Folsom signs contract

Rookie linebacker, JD Folsom, drafted in the 7th round out of Weber State (the wildcats), has signed his rookie contract.

It is valued at 4 years, $1.812 M with a $62 K signing bonus.

2009: $ 310, 000

2010: $ 395, 000
2011: $ 480, 000

2012: $ 565, 000

Folsom is considered by many, including myself, to be a 'bubble' player and will be fighting for a roster spot in Training Camp.

Tin, you're quicker than Mikey with the news. You've been full of info lately, thanks.
Hey, I saw in one of your entries yesterday that your kid was having a birthday this weekend, Happy Birthday. My youngest is having her 14th on Sunday, do they share a birthday?

  3. thanks for the birthday wishes, his b-day isn't this weekend, but it is in July, which is what I actually said (don't worry, herdfan read it the same way too, thanks herdfan as well).  His is the 21st.  Last I checked we are doing a pirate theme....but lately he's been thinking he's a lion, so who knows.

  4. It's in Utah.  The Dolphins only go after players from Utah, Ohio State or the Big East, lol.

I know you said you went to USC or were a fan anyway, I can't name more than  one USC guy on the team, though several of our 'bubble' players are from California....

Right on, I hope not a Detroit Lion that would be scary!

  6. That's funny, on the Sirius show I was listening to, they took about 10 phone calls from fans, and at least 5 of them were from Lions fans.  I suppose they have a lot of concern for the upcoming season.  But not ONE of them even mentioned Matthew Stafford.

I think some of them think they'll be the Dolphins of this year. Ah-No. They must have high hopes for Stafford, right?

It pains me to say that Cam did only two good things:
    1. Got rid of Duante (he's done)
    2. Got Ronnie running like a mo-fo.

  8. I'd like to see jD make this team and turn into a starter.  He would barely make a dent in the cap space.  We need players like him, and Bess to be on this team.  Guys like that make everyone better.  Who better to push a veteran than a young hungrey kid from Nowhere U.  That's a good thing.

  9. Agreed.  He could eventually replace Akin on the cheap.  Hopefully he can contribute on special teams and stick around long enough to get a shot.  We need more backup ILBs.  Torbor hasn't really shown me anything worth starter consideration and makes a lot of money for a backup.  Too much IMO.

  11. Tin, how do you scoop SS, PBP & MH when you are all the way out in CA? (I'm not asking for any clasified info, just in general. )  Good job.  It's come to the point where I check with you before checking their sites! LOL

  12. I'd like to say it's because I have Jeff Ireland's phone number, but the truth is it's a combination of sniffing around every possible source and the fact that Armando, Omar, Berardino and Harvey are apparently on vacation ;)

  13. I wouldn't mind if Armando's was permanent.  That guy is a clown who has a very high opinion of himself.  Why I have no idea?  He is the tabloid reporter for the Phins.

  16. Charlie, I am not allowed to discuss my avatar any more.  It seems that it is distracting and I have been accused of not having any "football" comments, only talking about my avatar.
