Sorry Tin, I beat you to it on the SS. I checked your blog and you didn't have it up yet. :-P

That said I didn't have enough details on the contract so I didn't get into the numbers.

3. Technically, I announced it YESTERDAY and typed it up when I woke up this
morning. Unfortunately, I forgot to hit 'publish' until I got to work
(well, after our daily morning meeting) That's why the time of the blog
says 5am. But I know I goofed that one up. My IT issues are really slowing
me down, to the point where it takes me 10 times as long to publish every
article.

I was just busting on you. :-P

How did you get that information yesterday when no one else knew about it?

You would think the sports reporters who cover the Dolphins might want to have that technology and information. :-E

ReplyDelete
7. okay, it's not a blackberry, it's a samsung!
I can't believe how the reporters seem completely 'put out' by picking up a
phone and calling a player's agent. They actually have credentials and
reputation. I've got nothing but I can still get through sometimes.

8. AWESOME!!! Not that it matters to me,but the breakdown numbers didn't post,on this end..

THNX for the news, give me a day to catch-up,and hopefully then you'll be able to submit PW,and CClemons' #s Saturday..

Who the heck is CClemons' agent,he's pissing me off... One of them hardballers evidently.. GOFINS!!

I bet HOME is the guy w'the fishing hat,cuz he said it was SOOOOOO HOTTT,and needed an excuse for NOT wearing a Dolphins hat,(in case he were to reveal his true identity)... Gotta read b/t the lines...
I'd guess,he's either that guy,or the guy next to him w'NO HAT..
Will this be one of the contest question's??

9. The Herald suggest CClemons' should be done today or Sat,(minor details)crossing T's dottin I's...

13kvFINS, camp hasn't started yet so it's no big deal that Clemons and White aren't signed yet. If they get it done by the weekend it's all good. 8-)

11. Sorry, the truth is I typed it out before I got the number, and I haven't
seen what the bonus is so I can't break it down yet.

ReplyDelete
12. I want to guarantee that White's deal will be done before Clemons.

ReplyDelete
13. with that said I believe Pat White will be signed today as well.

Awesome! If all are signed before camp starts except for Clemons, there is no way he's going to be the only holdout as a 5th round pick. What is his agent squabbling over, $47.52? LOL

ReplyDelete
15. It's supposedly over the length of the contract.

So do you think we're trying to lock him up for 5 years and his agent wants 4?

ReplyDelete
17. LOL, no, the other way around. I think they want four and the Dolphins
offered him 3.

ReplyDelete
18. Oh no !! 13 is back in the fold now we're all in for it. :-P Good to see you back on line.

19. How much leverage soes he really have ? He's not top round pick I think his options are limited

ReplyDelete
20. He has some options, he could choose not to sign with the Dolphins. Someone
else will want him. Remember, he was a steal as far as projected draft
position goes.

21. Good 2 more to go and that's it for this year. Now the true stars ( the coaches ) can get to work and continue on developing the players into a great football team. Man it's great having a coaching staff that knows what it's doing.

ReplyDelete
22. Well I'm not saying that won't happen. But that's something we seldom see, and I don't think things will come to that. Plus he will still make more with this contract than he will if he decides to test the FA. If I were him, I would try as he his to get everything he can in his favor, then sign. He's going to get a descent contract easily close to 1 mil. with a signing bonus that's not bad for playing a game. We'll see if he doesn't show up he'll be left behind and losses any chance he has of starting, any where he goes this year.
I used to get hung up on players not signing and thinking they need to get into camp. With age I learned that no matter what happens the sun will rise the next day, and we will see what that brings. If for some off the wall reason Clemons doesn't sign, it will be a big let down for sure. But I'll bet the dolphins still open camp on Sunday and the players that are there have a much better chance of playing in the NFL then Clemons will.

I totally agree with that. You can feel the difference even as a fan what a impact a strong coaching staff has.
I bet guys love playing for Sparano.

24. YOU guys have brightened my days to know that so many people are obsessed? as i am about beloved fins.... fin up

ReplyDelete
25. welcome to the fold, finfanraleigh! There's no shame in being obsessed, of
course, it depends what you're obsessed *with.*

ReplyDelete
26. If for some reason the Dolphins slip this year which would not surprise me one bit. I know that they are on the right track with the right man in charge. Sparano is the "Man". If BP has done only one correct thing during his time here that one thing will be bringing Sparano in as head coach.

A lot of times agents want less years so they can get their client a new contract in a few years if they feel he has starter potential. Teams usually want to lock the player up longer.

31. Your right Fin. I don't agree with many of the blogers here but they all know the Dolphins are MY TEAM. I could care less about any other team in the NFL, nor any of our ex-players for that matter. If they leave the Dolphins and play somewhere else they are the enemy to me. Those players can fall off the end of the earth for all I care.

Now I'm not sure how many others feel that way, but one can tell so far everyone here are Dolphin fans thru and thru. You gotta love that !!! >:o

32. We can all thank Tin for this site. Anyone want to second that motion ?

Teams like to spread the amount of the contract over a longer period of time and they don't lose all the developmental time they put in with the player in a few years.

Look at the difference between the time when Tin started this blog and where it is now. It went from 4 or 5 comments for each topic to 25-60 on a regular basis. He's built a base over time. Kind of like how you build a good team with young players. It takes time and you have to learn from your mistakes and see what works and what doesn't.

SOOO,are you the guy in the FINS hat(as TIN humerously suggested),the guy in the fishing hat,or one of the hairless/hatless,(as I calculated)?? NO NEED to unvail yourself, again jusplayin!!

43. IMHO,Clemons will be a star safety for us w'in two yrs replacing either(Wilson),or YBELL...
He's quietly,very fast,aggressive,and a punishing tackler!!

I'd suggest that he'll start next yr,but I'm thinking BIG season for YBELL,and hoping GWilson play's well enough to keep CC as a situational Safety through o10,(but he WILL be on the field in 09)..
JMO from watching Clemson games, but obviously want this yrs duo to impress!!

WE have a VERY BRIGHT future w'6 of"OUR"first 7 09 draft pks,(excluding Nalbone)who I know nothing of!!
