Ronnie Brown decides to stay in Hawaii?

So there was a short mention a week or so ago on Profootballtalk.com about a team putting up certain players' jerseys, etc. at heavily discounted prices. Turns out said players got the axe. I commented on that story that MiamiDolphins.com had done a similar thing leading up to the 2008 season. Jerseys went on sale one week and the following week the correlating players were gone.

So what does it mean that Fox Sports Store has suddenly marked down Ronnie Brown jerseys by 75 % ?

It should be noted that they did the same thing to Dan Marino jerseys which are by far still the top selling Dolphin jersey. Ted Ginn jerseys are still full price.

  1. Let me be more specific; he doesn't pass block well, he's too often an indecisive runner and if not for the Wildcat he'd be gone already.

  2. nydolphin, are you serious? Brown is an excellent blocker especially in pass protection and he makes the most of his runs. He also has great hands catching the football.

  3. Seriously! His trade value will never be higher.s A trade package with another team... like baltimore!

  4. ny is right about the trade value.s However I think the coaches would rather use him than lose him.

  5. Just running with a thought, that's all!

  6. Brown would be the last player I trade. Teams aren't shuffling around RB's like they used to. To trade for a first round pick then use it to get another RB like bufallo did with baltimore, I don't see the point, unless your RB is getting old like with Edge. IF we were to trade Brown I would like it to work out like the Edge trade with the colts.

    What I do with jersseys is buy an old one at a deep discount price. Like junior Seau #55, or Welker #83, or Surtain #23. Then take tape and block out the old guys name. Take my trusty sharpie and I got a Porter, Camarillo, and Brown for $75

  7. And for the record, the Ronnie Brown jerseys are not on sale at the official site.s However it does look like they're almost out of stock on jerseys.s They don't have any more Marinos! WTF.

  8. I was questioning nydolphins bashing of Ronnie Brown. He's one of the best players on our team and one of thesbestsall-around backs in the league.

    Tin, maybe the next time reporters from the Sun Sentinel catch up with Tony Sparano they can ask him about Tim Tebow. LOL

  9. I don't get the Tebow thing on SS.s That was completely out of left field.s Is it something that will suddenly make sense to me after my second cup of coffee?
    s
    Maybe they should ask Sparano what he thinks about the incoming freshman class of [insert college name here]!

  10. Maybe they should ask him specifically about Pat White and how he would be the key to the offense, especially in the Wildcat. I'm sure Sparano would be willing to tell them how they're planning on drafting only Wildcat prospects. Being that we have no other needs, all we need to do is draft 9 Wildcat QBs so teams would never know what we're doing. : )

  11. At least Pat White is in the draft.s Tebow is staying in school, so what is the story there?

  12. I have no idea. The Tebow thing is such a Florida thing.Does the media realize that we only run the Wildcat a little over 5 times per game?
    s
    I read that we ran it 86 times. So why focus on drafting talent for it when we already have good talent to run it? I think we'll expand it a little bit in 09 but not use it more often if that makes sense. What I mean is we'll do some different things that we didn't show last year but it won't become more of our offense than it was in 08.

    Here are some stats I found on a Dolphins fan site about how many times we ran the Wildcat. Not sure if it's accurate but it looks about right.
    s
    86 times;s
    80 running, 6 passing;
    585 yds;
    15 first downs;
    8 TD's.

  13. And I found these stats on a Dolphins fan site about how much Ernest Wilford
    contributed in 2008:

  14. i am still laughing at phinatic.s not only is it bad enough an adult man is wearing some athelets jersey, but you are putting a sharpie to them,s LMAO

  15. Those are outstanding stats. The numbers are so big i can't even see them. : )
    s
    Tin, do you think Wilford just had a bad year and he's capable of rebounding, or is his talent deteriorating at 29 years old? He's a step too slow and he just doesn't do what Gadsden could do as a slow footed WR. Gadsden actually got open and caught the ball. LOL
    s
    Give Wilford one more camp to prove himself or cut ties with him when it's the best cap situation?

  16. Great stats Tin.ss I was wondering aloud to myself same thing just moments before I read you post.
    s
    Maybe phinatic can get his jersey.....oh wait....did they actually print a jersey with his name on it?

  17. Watching Wilford run is painful.s I've never seen anyone run that slow, or at least look that slow (maybe it's an optical illusion).s He can't possibly be going higher than a 6.27 in the 40 yard dash.
    s
    As for Charlie's question, no the Dolphins did not print a Wilford jersey, but to make things worse, if you go to Wilford's myspace page, it is a Jacksonville themed page, and he's updated it in the last year, so go figure.

  18. I wonder if Wilford is one of those guys who thinks he's blessed with talent and doesn't train all that hard. Well he better realize he needs a lot of work on his legs and getting off the line faster than a offensive linemen. LOL
