Sunday Combine Summary

  • Percy Harvin was taller than expected, slimmer than expected, and slightly slower than expected. I don't know what to think about the idea of drafting him. I guess I feel it would be a step in the wrong direction.
  • Kenny Britt continued to be a bad-ass, even winking at someone as he decelerated after his 40 yard dash, which timed at a 4.48. This guy is a beast and would be a huge value at #44 but he'll possibly be gone by then.
  • DE/OLB Everette Brown shrank by more than two inches. At 6'2" 256 LBs however, he'd still be a steal if he dropped to #25.
  • Brian Cushing with all his supplements managed 30 reps at the bench press. Respectable but I thought he would do 40ish.
  • A couple of USF Bulls are at the combine, Taurus Johnson is a WR that lifted 18 reps, and ran a 4.47. Tyrone McKenzie, remains one of my top prospects, and he lifted 27 reps and will run tomorrow.
I won't go into how bad the weather here is affecting my viewing of the Combine, but at times it feels like I'm watching a Tetris competition. I think I need a bigger Satellite dish.

I missed the first group of WRs altogether since the NFL Network only showed that group once and the replayed the next group 6 times today. From now on I will try to watch it online instead, though it will be tricky on Monday morning explaining to my boss that 'it'll have to wait cuz I'm watching the broad jump!'

Bottom line, my take is, I like Britt, and Heyward-Bey and Maclin actually looked bigger and stronger than I expected. I wish I could've seen their full workouts but NFL Network is obsessed with the 40 and only replayed that portion.

The best part of the day was when they showed Beanie Wells' broad jump. I think at one point the guy jumped clear off the screen but one of his nose hairs fell out onto the ground and they made him re-jump.

See what happens when you make fun of me and my bad weather issues a few weeks ago.s I made a Tinshaker voodoo doll, and have been subjecting it, along with it's companion satelite dish and blog, to all sorts of mayhem.

Personally, I'm not surprised the measurements of these guys are off.s In my experience, men are unable to give accurate measurements, particularly when it comes to anatomy.

  2. To make things worse, the quadruple firewalled network at work is super slow and cannot handle the live video on nfl.com

I can understand the voodoo doll, but the voodoo satellite dishs reeks of mental issues! lol

  6. Tin, the LBs are going now I guess?

  7. The DL just finished up the 40 yd dash.s LBs are doing their jumping drills.

  8. I can tell you that BJ Raji ran a 5.13, and Brian Orakpo ran a 4.60!

  9. AND they ran a boring piece on Cushing taking a psychological test.

  10. Tin, thanks for repeating everything, I didn't get it the first time. LOL

  11. I don't think any herd players are there.s At least I haven't heard anything on local news about it, and usually they report all things herd.s I think a couple were at the Shrine game, but must not have done much.s I've been sort of busy with transitioning to complete new system here at work, and can't say I've been tuned into anythng except that.s We need a new coach.s Things haven't been the same since Coach Pruett.s Sigh!

BTW, in case you haven't figured it out, I'm a "middle aged female" on a football blog.s The mental issues are a given I would think!

  12. Whats with the double comments?
"The best part of the day was when the showed Beanie Wells' broad jump."
keeping with your grammatical correctness I believe you meant "when they showed"
If we draft Harvin their should be a mob of Ginn haters to burn down the nick saban memorial bubble. Plus they'll need someone to replace Crowder and Hill, Friday is almost here

  13. I don't know why but lately i've been double commenting on all the blogs.s It must be something to do with my stupid work network.s It doesn't happen when i blog from home.
    s
Thanks for the policing though technically it's a typo, not a grammatical error!s I'll fix it in a second.
    s
What do you think of the comments made by Crowder?s He's starting to sound like Wilford!

  14. I think Kent's comment is right in line with what Mr Bungle has been sayign all along about the Wildcat.
    s
The Dolphins may say that they like the WC because it puts the ball in the hands of their playmakers, but the reality is they started it because they got blown out at Arizona, otherwise they would've been using it from day one.

  15. Tin, who is Kent and why can't he post? Good stuff though.
    s
30 reps for Cushing who is just under 6-3 245 is very impressive. I'm not sure why you guys thought he'd do more. Any idea what he ran in the 40 or did they not run yet?

  16. The linebackers are just finishing up the 40 now.s Things are not going well for the defense so far.s Maualuga and Orakpo have both pulled hamstrings.
    s
They are showing Cushing's segment during EVERY break.s It's insane.
    s
I only saw about 7 LBs run, and Cushing wasn't one of them, though he did post a 10' flat broad jump.

  17. Kent is a regular poster of SS and I think I've seen him on the Herald as well.s He's from Tennessee I believe.s Must be hard being a dolfan in Titan country.
    s
His job's network doesn't like my commenting third party so it blocks him from sending comments, but he can read them just fine (I think).

Crowder is pissed at the team and is more and more likely to not be a Dolphin. I think when he got drafted he thought he'd stay with the team his whole career, and just like getting dumped by a hot girl reality set in. He'll make some money somewhere and i loved his locker room interviews. I liked him more than most people, but his lack of INT's and Sacks is what did him in if you ask me. Had Adoyele not had those 2 INT's I don't think the front office would have been so down on him

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah I hear you on the Crowder/hurt feelings thing, but despite the logical conclusion in your first sentence, I feel that logic doesn't fly in this case because Ernest Wilford is still on the team.s I know they are likely to hold onto Wilford and try to trade him or jut wait until preseason to cut him, but they might seriously keep him on the 53.
    s
As far as Crowder goes, the Dolphins have said they've been negotiating to keep him, so it's not true that they don't want him on the team, they just don't want to pay him the kind of money he wants.
    s
So to use your analogy, it's like the hot girl will marry you, but she won't put out anymore.

  23. Yeah how does Evertte Brown go from 6-4 to 6-1? I've noticed quite a few prospects shrinking. I can't wait for the DBs. Why do I have a feeling that 6-1 195 will turn into 5-11 185. LOL

  25. I don't know but I liked his NFLN interview.s I was really impressed by that Sidbury kid.s Also, did anyone see the Maualuga interview?s I don't know if I've been watching too much "LIE TO ME" but I didn't believe a word of it.s He got defensive about 'having anything to hide' when no one had accused him of that, also when he was limping off the field he looked like he was faking it.s
    s
BTW my freakin satellite is still giving me eithe r a black screen or a tetris game half the time and did not record the linebacker drills!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't have any conspiracy theories or anything like that.s I just watched his interview and he seemed like he was lying.s I kind of have an eye for that sort of thing.s
    s
It's possible he did tweak his hammie and was injured, but the stuff he said in the interview I didn't feel he was being totally honest.
    s
For the record, when I watched the replay of his 40 it did look like he seized up around the 10 yd mark.
    s
I'm not questioning that, but I am questioning some of the things he said about an hour later.s I REALLY question the concept that he would run the 40 if he had a pre-existing injury, that he wouldn't mention the injury until AFTER he ran the 40, and that in his poking and prodding two days earlier no one noticed the injury.

    ReplyDelete
  27. There's also the possibility I only saw the tweak because I knew about it before watching it.s It's possible it didn't affect his 40 and he's a slow bastard.s In any event, he wasn't doing well before that.s He had a poor jumping session before the 40.s Out of the 4 USC LBs at the Combine, he had the worst week.s I think it's fair to say that Clay Matthews managed to outshine the two guys whose shadow he's been living in.s Cushing was decent too but Matthews probably climbed up the boards a bit.
