Per Edgar Thompson at the Palm Beach Post, the Dolphins have re-signed offensive lineman, Vernon Carey to a 6 year, $42 million deal that includes a guaranteed $15 million!
This is shocking news if you live in walterfootball or Brian Biggane-land!
Edgar also reports that there is a 30% chance that Channing Crowder will be re-signed, which sounds low but it's higher than the ZERO percent chance that the SS and Herald have reported.
Also, Reggie Torbor is using his off-season to attend Harvard Business School. Hopefully he's working out his body as well as his mind, but it does go to show that players do have time to go to school during the offseason, and they should probably factor that in to early decisions coming out of college.
It's possible the Dolphins interviewed possible replacements on Wednesday, talked about it on Thursday morning, and decided to pay Carey that afternoon. Today is their last chance to interview o-linemen though so we'll see if they move on to guard/center.s It's possible they're still interested in Herman Johnson.
ReplyDeleteGlad VC is still with us! Shore up Center and restock the D.
ReplyDeleteBeing a football nerd, I was looking at the 2009 schedule. The Fins will play the top 5 passing teams in yards/attempt. At Chargers, vs. Saints, at Falcons, vs. Texans, at Panthers.

Also noteworthy was that our only cold weather games, depending on dates, is in our own division. The other away games are at Tennessee, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Carolina and San Diego.
When is the Tennessee game?s Remember last year they had the coldest game of the season there...
ReplyDeleteThe official 2009 schedule, with playing dates and times, will be announced in the spring.

Reading between the lines, seems like most nfl coaches have adopted a policy of "I promise to talk about the draft, the whole draft, and nothing but the draft, so help me Roger" because they don't want to talk about free agents and risk bringing down tampering charges. ;)
Well interestingly while his agent is probably in Indy, Channing Crowder was playing in a charity softball game in Florida.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in those negotiations.
